I've made a tool to generate 3D models from the collision data in Sonic 3D Blast, and I'd like to submit them here, but I have a few questions about how they should be presented.
Here are some example pics:

Being purely collision, these models have no materials, is this okay or am I obligated to make a dummy material to apply to the model?
The model itself is not optimized, each "tile" is two tris, with attached wall sections also being two tris each. Should I try to merge flat areas together? If so, how?
As these models are untextured and uncolored, I feel like making something identifiable in the small icon would be difficult. Can I just use a screenshot of the level ingame (like I did for the map rips on Spriters Resource)?
For the large icon, would an orthographic overhead view be best?
I have attached the model for Green Grove Zone Act 1 as a reference.
Edit: Just noticed part of the map isn't showing in the ortho screenshot there, oops.
