First try at a Mario style since M&L1. C+C and stuff...

I'd add another row of pixels to the top of the hat so it looks more round/less flat.

Update since I don't feel like sleeping. Did some tinkering with eyes and hat + added a cruddy body :B

His eyes have to much blue in 'em, and his legs look noodle...y.

I'll work on the legs now, but which skin palette looks better?

I'd say 1 easily.

His arms and buttons should be higher.
