If you ask me, I think G&W should be an exception to the black outline rule.
He just doesn't look right with a black outline.

I like the way Arthur did it originally, with the dark-ish outline but not black.

yeah, the black outline just looks bad.

I guess it wouldn't make any see for a black outline to be over a character that is mostly black with a gra outline.

I'm not the best with AA, but how does this look?

better, but there are a fex dodgy pixels near the top left.
