I'm getting damn sick of square doing prequels and sequels to things. Why the hell are these games numbered anyway? It's not like they follow on.

I don't know, really. The guys at sprites inc. did it. They were unable to get palettes though, if I remember correctly.

I hope this is true, unlike EB on the VC.

Are the sprites any different that the Cellphone game?

I don't think any other information has been release. But surely they would be considering the screen size difference.
