That's why you have to practice and dedicate yourself to spriting. While not everyone is able to start scratch right off the bat, these forums are more for novice and advanced spriters than beginner spriters. This doesn't mean you should leave. Just keep practicing, never give up, and listen to feedback that people post about your work.
It's going to take time for your skills to improve, but as long as you have the will, you'll be able to do anything you set your mind to. For right now instead of trying a style that's too much for you right now, why not try Flying Mario in a more friendly style? It can even be a custom 8-bit style if you want to try doing that for a start.
