I've done this little thing; though I don't know what to add to the beam. Should I just leave it as it is? Or add something there?
i think you should smooth out the beams´s curveness. And maybe AA it? Colour AAing is always fun ^^

Unfortunally, I am only an amateur spriter. I will smoothen it out, though I don't know AAing.
AAing is quite simple: you get an intermediate of 2 colours, and put them where they clash.
A line dont clash with another but a square does.

I'm sorry but thats not a good example. It's sloppy and uses WAAAAY to many shades.
Try this
Pretty much, just put a single color between two colors. FOr example, if you have a lot of red next to yellow, put orange in between.
