so it's kind of hard for him to do any custom spriting

The reason he's asking you guys for a custom sheet is because Splinter's a rather unpopular character [well, compared to the Turtles, Shredder or even Leatherhead], therefore you're not going to find much spritework of him. I assume you're looking for the old-school Splinter, the down-to-Earth one who doesn't do a lot of fighting.
Uh, you're not going to find many sprites of him, honestly - you MIGHT want to consider making a custom sheet yourself, or editing the TMNT Splinter that Skink posted above to resemble the 1980's Mirage Comics Splinter.
