it feels so flat UGH frustration

the tentacle that's been worked on the most looks the most flat out of all of them. use a more volumetric approach , much like the tentacle to the right of the one you've detailed. it looks more three dimensional than the others. the colors are really nice, by the way. cool creature.

I'm trying to go for a painting style in photoshop ala Murderbeard but I just have no clue how to do it. I'm using a soft brush with opacity set on pen pressure and it just ain't working, help?
