Holy Mail Sack!
This is awesome man. I'm so happy someone's ripping this game at last. Despite being lousy at the game I absolutely love it. Of course with me that's the case with most games.
Who's the final boss in this version? And do you ever actually fight Material/Muttonhead in this one?
1. The closest translation I can give is ~Supreme God~ Geistwraith (GAISUTOREISU).
2. Nope. He appears in a lot of the stages, but otherwise he is just a background character. And since the game doesn't have a fan translation that I know of, I don't even know if he truly is a bad guy.
Digital Devil Story ~ Megami Tensei II
[Evil]
[Neutral]
[Good]
[Other]
[Other]
These could take a while, I found a method to view most of the Devil's in the status screen (some bosses won't show up since they also use the background, like Bael and Beelzebub) and I can use those to recolor the tile rips I did.
http://hkaityo.hp.infoseek.co.jp/dq/dds21-02.html <- The white box they're in is how they show up in the status screen. (The ones shown at 2x)
http://f46.aaa.livedoor.jp/~aqul/aton/dds2/maoh.html <- Just to give you an idea of how wide Bael and some of the others are.
This also means the Maou class will have to be last, along with Y.H.V.H., since assembling NES background tiles, not the easiest thing to do.
And if you're wondering why there is no Light, Dark, Chaos, or Law, that system isn't implemented until the Shin games, for this and possibly DDS1, it's just Good, Neutral, and Evil.
Like so:
I fixed the colors on the sheets (on the Evil set so far) and icons.
Whoa! The PC version?!?!
Win
Snap, I should try changing my glasses +_+
I need an opinion on something. I'm going to redo the sheets and I want to know if I should leave the boxes around them. The boxes are what they are displayed in the status window with the palette changed internally to one of the unused blacks of the NES palette with that color being a purple (the unedited ones are white and a chunk of the enemies use white and make it impossible to use) and the design into a solid block.
How it would look without them:
With them:
I know without them it leaves some unused space but damn it, organizing them is becoming a bit annoying.
I had this as one sheet but it was over the Photobucket size limit (the 1MB one) and it subsequently shrunk, so I split it into 2 sheets.
If it's part of the sprite you can include it. Alternatively, just keep one box so people will no that it's used with the sprites.
Wait! A guy dressed up as Jack Frost? Sweet!
Woman actually, she's near the end of the second to last row on the first mugshots sheet. There's also one that's green but I don't know if it's actually used or leftover.
They're as good as ready for upload, the Maou sheet is going to take a while since I'm only halfway through the game (at least I think it's halfway, after Bael, you go to Hell and from the maps I seen, it's huge) and even with all the cheating (0 encounters + max level), it's still going to take time.
Ah, Ok. I was waiting for that last one.
I found some screenshots of the major bosses that have the same palette I'm using, so I'll be done quicker then expected. However I'm going to do 2 sheets, the Maou class sheet (which will have the main sprites of the major boss, i.e. Bael's and Lucifer's body, Beelzebub's and Satan's head) and the Bosses sheet (all minor bosses and the pieces of the major bosses, plus assembled).
Example using Bael:
So you get the idea, the pink body will also be on the Maou sheet, but not the background sprite.
