Went out and bought a Vita today. I have been having fun with WipEout. I never thought I would have that F-Zero itch scratched ever again but this game does it super well. Step it up, Nintendo.
Really? WipEout scratches the F-Zero itch for you? (heh that sounds weird) I have WipEout HD because of the PSN security issues thing and I always felt it was way too slow and floaty to even come close to F-Zero. Is 2048 better in actually feeling speedy?
I feel it is on par with feeling speedy. especially when you start comboing together those boost pads and nailing those corner turns. Holy crap.
The only thing it does not do that well is fit many players on the screen. You wont find 29 computer players racing with you but instead 7. So that part is kind of a bummer.
WipeOut HD is the better game in my own opinion, so if you didn't like that your not going to like 2048.
The ships do feel floaty, just how it is. Just don't play as the first one (my mind is blank at the moment) as it's cornering is so sensitive it's awful. As for being slow? Try boosting the difficulty or simply progress a bit further on. Or just slap a Zone game on.

Well, yeah, I know the difficulties are speed classes, I'm up to the second to last of the HD circuits/series (whatever they're called). I think that the floatiness is what bugs me, actually, not the speed. Perhaps ironically, I don't like WipEout because regardless of the speed it still feels like you're in control, while F-Zero feels like you're fighting against the speed while also using it to your advantage. And I like how flimsy F-Zero machines feel, the WipEout cars are too bulky and getting hit with weapons feels like someone just hit you with a "hey slow down" energy wave than something that's actually explosive.
I guess all I'm saying is that I want crazy visceral feelings and extreme campiness from my futuristic racers. Though I do dig the WipEout aesthetic, and it's certainly more realistic than F-Zero. The whole racing teams thing is cool, too.
Though, yeah, Zones is awesome, especially with custom soundtrack. (sometimes I use F-Zero music in Zones. teehee)
Yeah F-Zero is defiantly a different beast. WipeOut plays more like a anti-gravity Mario Kart than F-Zero in my own opinion (mostly because of the weapons, thought the wave is 100 times better than the unfair blue shell). The look of the game seems to cause most people to compare it to F-Zero.
Playing F-Zero your constantly worried your going to die with how fast it feels compared to your level of control. It seems strange that there was a huge boost of popularity for the series (anime, crap load of GBA games) and now nothing... would really like to see a new one in the series.
As for me... still playing Catherine getting those endings and staring in disbelief when a silver award is given even though I completely OWNED the damn stage... like what the hell game...
Currently playing Final Fantasy XII, while waiting for Final Fantasy X HD (or Versus XIII, which ever one comes out first)
PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond. One of the best sequels to one of the best games ever made: PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure.

Hell yeah, Ocarina of Time 3D.

same
this game really disappointed me though. yeah, its fun. yeah, theres the master quest. but it kinda irks me that they didnt use the full ability of the 3DS graphics engine, or at least change up some of the level design or aesthetics, like the surrounding environment.
environment maps - stuff like the rupee, swords, shields have em, but they arent just used for metal.(seen in: LoZOoT3D)
bump/normal mapping - would have complimented the model work exponentially.(seen in: Resident Evil 3D)
adv. particle effects - the fires, poe souls and such would have looked better if they werent animated billboards.(seen in: kid icarus uprising)
multi-channel texture support - a simple overlay with a simple environment map goes a long way, ie specular effect. (seen in: kid icarus uprising)
water shaders - a simple environment map, an overlay, maybe a bumpmap. instead, they use a moving caustic texture. (seen in: kid icarus uprising)
it just feels like they could have done so much more for a "remake".
(todo list: remodel hyrule to look epic)

True story: I've never played a 3-D Zelda game before. My gaming childhood is so full of holes. Is it really as good as it's cracked up to be, or is Majora's Mask better?

For me it is.
