I started my first sheet ever on monday!
I've got to a stage where i think id like some feedback on how its going.
I have always loved the genisis sonic sprites, so my first sheet i decided to make shadow in the sonic 2 style.

Heres how im doing...


I know I need to change the shoes and Ill do that later.
But please people give me your opinions.

It's a minor edit, more a recolor.
It's not entirely terrible though, I mean at least the colors are alright.

He just looks too much like Sonic. Your job is to make people think "whoa it's Shadow" instead of "whoa it's Sonic cosplaying as Shadow."



1. Longer spikes. Mind your linework, don't make his spikes look jagged.
2. Make the eyes more menacing. Sonic's are too friendly.
3. Make his chest hair look like hair, not a white triangle.
4. Red stripe on the middle of his head.

You're lucky, most beginners start with terrible edits. This isn't bad at all. *nods*

you mean like THIS?!?!?!?

Looks better, but why is it jpeg'd?
peg looks terrible, it messes up the colors.

i dont know when upload in photobucket all my lovely small bmps turn into jpegs.

Ah, yeah, that happens in photobucket.
You can either:
1. use .PNG
2. use another image hosting site, like www.imageshack.us

Working at a sprite every 2 minutes i have uptaded the sheet so my sprites
1. have longer spikes
2.are moodier
3.have red stripe on top of head

ok i forgot to make them all moody and to change the fur style so here you go.

buttbutt already gave you some stufff that should be fixed, but i don't see you have done them really.

i may warn you also that you're not the first one to do this particular edit.

The bottom hairs should be lifted up a bit. And he still has Sonic's shoes.

Need to edit shoes and gloves thougth...
and do dieing, taking damige and the classic almost-falling-off-poses.

Well, it has improved a bit I guess from where you first started off. Good job.

You might want to check the shape of his spikes. Some of Shadow's go off in strange directions, so you'll need to adapt that to your sprite.

also, shadow doesn't run like that, he .... hoverskates?
don't know how to call it, it might be challenging to do, since it will require some scratchwork, but my advice is, refferences.
