Running's done Big Grin

@Gaia: I wanted to be useful and edit your sparkster but I think I edited him too much :X
Oh well...I'll post it anyways...

Try to make sure that the wing in the back is actually different, not just shifting the same image. Also, it's kinda hard to see all of the body parts; the arms and legs blend in together too much. It could be the posture, but I think it might be a good idea to darken the leg in the back (his left leg) to make it stand apart from the arm in front of it.

Alrighty, wings are on the docket for that idle pose then. (Indeed, I got rather lazy with the back wing.) I'll try to darken his back leg. As far as the positioning of the leg, I'm hesitant to mess with it more because of the amount of time I'm worked on getting a good position for both legs (and arms) and how badly I want to at least get an animated idle pose.

EDIT: Decided to try out the darkening real quick, started using a darker shade I was ignoring prior to now:

Speaking of an animated idle pose, I animated his tail. It may be too erratic for an idle pose, so I may use it for a walking animation or something instead if it turns out that way. (And, no, he's not that purple, nor is there that much contrast. I'm suffering from Bad-Animation-Program syndrome.)

Looks alright, maybe you should add some fist clinching to it to add more life?
Does anybody have the plusle and minun sprites Rags started on I'll do those instead of Animal Crosser.
Omega, just get Beneton. It's free, and doesn't have any discoloration. I use it (though I have CS3 Master's, so I should really be using Fireworks).
@Omegakyogre, that reddish-purple should totally be an alternate palette.
Also, yeah, that tail is a bit too active for an idle pose. For idle, you might want the tail to quiver only slightly, and only occasionally.
@Brawler: His tail is the only thing I animated there. The full animation will be much more life-like.

@Kirbyfan: I'm actually looking into GraphicsGale, I may use that for my animations (and spriting in general) if it can export GIFs without losing colors. Thanks for the recommendation, though, I'll keep that as an option.

@Sploder: What I might do is add a frame for it to slow down and stop, and have it do that every X frames so it's more like an idle pose. I think the quivering looks nice and sinister, it just needs to happen every so often rather than being in constant motion.
This idle animation is going to have a crapload of frames...
And, I thought the same thing when I saw that palette. I need to go back and add palettes for Gooey, as well...
I use Game Maker and Windows Animator for animating. It seems, when GM saves gifs, it saves the palette in the file. Then I use Windows Animator to loop it, fix the speed, and add transparency. Both are free (well, GM Lite is, but you don't need Pro for this sort of thing...).
Okay, I've been staring at that Ridley sprite long enough to finally see what's been bothering me about it.

His legs are too high up, and what I mean by his legs is where his hips start. It seems awkwardly placed, but it can be fixed easily by just making his upper legs go in a slight downward angle like I did with the Ridley I made.
Hmm.

A good custom stage peice whould be a se-saw. like the one on rainbow ride.
K, I had some ideas for Kai. Basically, all his actions rely on the Omegas from the sequel.

I figured that this would be interesting since, in all honesty, Kai is a normal person. He can't do anyhting aside from walk and probably jump, so I'm making all his actions aside from those use his helpers, even things like running will use the Speed Omega.

I wish you'd have been able to tell me that yesterday, before I really started the animation process. I'm going to finish animating the idle pose first, and if it's still a problem, I'll edit it and change the thighs. The reason why I have his legs bent so much is how tall he is (right now he's the same height - if not taller - than Bowser, and that's when he's bending down as far as he is). If I increase the angle of his thighs, that would make him taller, unless I decrease the angle of his lower legs to compensate, but it would also reduce how 'stable' (read: balanced) he is in that position and it would require some work to make it right. Nevertheless, I'll change it if it's still a problem after the animation is done, but that doesn't mean I won't bitch about it. Fair warning, right?

Here's progress so far on the idle. Only his tail and his right hand are animatedright now, but I plan to animate everything - his legs, his other hand, his arms, his body, his neck and head - in addition to what I've done here. And, I'm proud to say, these are the correct colors for him. Rejoice.

That looks good.

As for the leg angles, there could be another way around the problem. That is, angle his upper legs up a bit. It would place the legs' hip joint at about the right spot.

I likes it.

For the head you could have it move down a bit and have his mouth open a bit. Some leg bending and blinking wouldn't hurt I guess.

If you want some help I could make some sprites as well. I have a full moveset thought out for him.
