That one pixel extending from his stomach makes him look chubby.
It's not needed.

ps: Damn, how does Rokkoh kiriyami sound?
It's a common mistake but Japanese contains no single consonants other than "n". Rokkou Kiriyami would be about right(the double k is allowed as it is an extension of the "ko") Also, is his first name Rokkou? The Japanese put family name first and personal name after, hence Uchiha Sasuke, Son Goku ect.
My only critique is, basically the same as all the above, make his legs a bit longer, thicken out his arm, and lessen the contrast for the white streaks.
Keep it up.
all i saw were the immediately obvious facts of the Japanese culture and language
oh and there are different types of Romanization; not all phrases are subject to Hepburn romanization - it is not the ABSOLUTE method of roma.
also Ao Kuroi 「青黒い」 would be an awesomer name for the guy - literally it means "bluish-black" like a bruise but
look at his hair mang
Also if that's supposed to be a cigarette he's carrying, it looks really dumb. I'd suggest keeping props like that minimal.
Also being it's JUS you're really limiting the character's cool factor by not making an idling pose
make him carry that sword
Also, what's going on with his stomach, he looks rail thin and then a giant patch of FLESH COLOR
tl;dr you're on the right road but there is still a little more before you reach the end

He's coming along nicely, the blue streaks suit him far better than the white ones.

You're correct but the Hepburn system is the most common and the one you'll find is used all over Japan. the Nihon/Kunrei-Shiki aren't as common but they're also used quite widely and the rules are fairly similar to the Hepburn( Otya instead of Ochā, ect).
By using consonants not available in the syllabary by themselves it then becomes non-standard romanization and is often frowned upon.
Ao Kuroi is a really "sugoi" name
