No, were not telling you to start over.

We're telling you to improve it to a quality that will be accepted on tsr I:
Because when it comes down to it, "your style" just doesn't look that great.
Quote:Please C&C the line art only. Nothing else, because I want to do this without AAing or using any more colors.

See now was that so hard? The sentence above could have made this topic much less vague so that you wouldn't waste everyone's time. Instead you have to wait for us to comment and praise your tracings before you tell us "no i won't do that; it's not my style"
You act as if WE'RE the ones being disrespectful, but you're not even listening to yourself. :I
(08-02-2009, 01:28 AM)CCH Wrote: [ -> ]Instead, most of you pretty much are telling me every aspect of my art is wrong. You tell me the shading isn't contrasted enough. You tell me there's not enough shades. You tell me it needs anti-aliasing. You tell me the outlines are jagged and rough. These are not what I'm looking for.

I chose to use this style for a reason and all you guys are basically telling me is that I should just scrap all of these and do it over with an entirely different style. While you guys might think it was just a simple trace, I put a fair bit of effort into these and I don't want to have to change them just because you don't agree with my style.
Do you want pats on the ass then? :E
The AA, contrast, everything else we said would make this look much better, your "style" or not. Just give them a shot, they won't ruin your art. I know you said that you like doing this because of how you work with small sprites, which is fine. But pixel art requires a bit more shades and AAing to look nice.

And we aren't telling you to start over, my god. You can fix these without redoing it entirely.
(08-02-2009, 01:28 AM)CCH Wrote: [ -> ]At this point, I'm not even sure I want them on tSR at all. If no one is going to appreciate my work, what's the point? At least on Knite's Squire, people cared about the work I put into these and didn't immediately start picking out every little thing they didn't like. I don't mind criticism, but when you guys take it to a level of insulting my skill and telling me my work is basically worthless, it's kinda hard to value your opinion at all.
Is anyone here saying these are worthless? Maybe it's because I skimmed through, but most of this seemed to be suggesting ways to improve, and suggesting that you at least try to improve it.

But why am I trying with you :E
Welcome to TSR. Stop making excuses on how perfect your work is. You could at least try to fix some of the things we have suggested, or complain on how we are criticizing your work. We have been giving you gold, and you have been throwing it back at us.
I for one think it looks good being anime in pixelart, although I hope this comment doesn't spark a big race to flame me as I have been flamed so many times before. overall the only peices of work that he needs to do to improve the pixelarts is to smooth it out a little more, btw don't tell me to stop ******* posting because I won't.
now if I were a mod I would ban a lot of people on this thread for flaming, or at least stop them from posting non-crit replys and I am not part of his fan club but I am a person that frowns upon useless posting and unfortunately I've done a lot of frowning in this thread, one thing to the actual pixelart-maker I think the jagged parts are the only parts to work on.

@other people:Now don't get me wrong, but I am not exactly the type to eat popcorn in a major flaming spree.and its his style, don't ruin it.

just because it's his style doesn't mean it can't be improved. and improving=/=ruining a style.
look if it's his style then you can't do any thing to help him except point out jagged spots that aren't supposed to be jagged

Didn't you just tell us to stop criticizing his work?
i told you to stop criticizing what does not need to be criticized.AKA the AA

buuuut
since the pixel-arts can easily be improved, then it therefore can be critiqued

Big Grin

So your saying he doesn't need AA. He just needs to listen to whatever you tell him, because you know everything about pixeling.
He doesn't want our help.
Why are we still posting in this topic?
There are other topics made by people asking for help, so instead of posting here, where someone just makes excuses so he won't have to work harder, why don't we post there?
Jesus, almost 5 pages of people trying to help and one random guy (hello, bnewton. shut up. your opinion doesn't count because you don't know what you're talking about.) and the OP going BAWW THAT'S MORE WORK.

Nothing more to see here.
Gotcha.
