I've not played FF6 myself, but it's widely reported to be solid; and since it's so easy to emulate, the only thing you'd be losing out on is time if you didn't like it. Might as well give it a shot.

I have a cart of it, it's an amazing game.

FF4 is a close second. The SNES era easily has the best FF games though.

Anywho FF6 was my first FF and I lubbit :>

it's great but it kind of becomes a broken mess about halfway through the game because it's confusing as fuck as to where you're actually supposed to go

I finally finished it last week, and its amazing.

Well, since we know it's good, let's talk details.

I'm on the Locke-Celes story part 2 where the game introduces Setzer at the opera house.
I accidentally left the rest of my party in Narshe, leaving me with Locke and Celes only, which are currently my two weakest party members (aside from Gau, but he's useless anyway.)
So now I have to go back to Zozo, finish up there (I missed some stuff), go back to Narshe, get Sabin and Cyan (which are my two best party members) and then come BACK to the opera house.

FF6 takes everything good about the other 5 games and expands it into one, including inspiring the standard battle system for the rest of the games and even the remakes.

Besides all that, the game's just flat-out beautiful, graphically, musically*, extremely fun to just fight( I actually don't mind random encounters in this game), and the story is kick-ass, from Terra to Locke to Celes to Kefka, extremely polished game.

*On every single Top Video Game Music list. :o
