why episodic though? that's the biggest turnoff for me right now...I really don't like episodic games. it seems so random for this sort of game.
So people won't get to bitch so often. I'd do it too if I was Sega. Because as soon as I was done 4 people would expect in 1-2 years Sonic 5. And I'm not giving you all Sonic 5 that quick. I want to test waters and see how Sonic 4 pans out in sales.
On a more positive note.
"Please believe this is getting bought on release day!"

S3K was technically episodic

Isn't Sonic 2-3K known to some as the Death Egg Saga? More than likely to be same so I'm looking forward to it. Last time it happened these happened:
And they're some of the best that was ever written and drawn.
I think SEGA mistyped there. I think the name of the new game is "Sonic Advance 4" and not "Sonic the Hedgehog 4". Huge typo there SEGA.
I hope each episode has about the length of the average Genesis Sonic game. It'd be extremely annoying if they tried to get away with having only 2 zones or something stupid like that.
By "episodes" they'd better be pulling an S3K.
Episode one is basically sonic 3 alone, collect all 7 emeralds and beat the final boss.
Episode two is essentially sonic and knuckles, explaining what happens after sonic beats the boss and having to do it again.

Actually there may be some truth to that, for instance, when Sonic defeats Eggman robot suit in the second game it then cuts to a scene where sonic Escapes the death egg an dlands on the plane, then turing super (if the player collected all the emeralds), whereas in the third game the intro consists of sonic still on the plane, turning super and then dashing off to start the game, and the game the continues as every knows.
Hence a 3-part story of games,.....I just pointed out the obvious didn't I?

i somehow agree with rokkan on this one.
and at the same time, i suspect sega wants to pull a Newsupermariobrosswii sonic edition
except of course, relasing the game as episodes is nothing but a safeguard in case the first one gets flushed. a real sonic 4 game would be an standalone game, on its own disc, not a retarded wiiware download. this feels like just something that will float over its hype.
What the hell is that crap above me?
Anyway, meh - looks 'ok'
I have a feeling it's just going to play like the GBA games but look like the older levels. Ah well...

this is what I'm hoping, since they compared it to Sonic 3 in the interview. though that's technically bullshit because S3&K was supposed to be one from the beginning, and here they're planning it in advance.
but I'm really hoping it's more than a couple zones a month. that's why I'm being nervous about it. I like to blaze through Sonic games instead of having to be interrupted as soon as it got good...so the S3 comparison better be "longer than the average old-school Sonic game."
Hmmm, hmmm, all of your opinions are valid. Everyone has the right to feel the way they want to feel.
But still,
this hard.
Also, I still say S2-S3K is the real episodic Sonic experience. The story's even connect S2's ending lead's into 3 in which ends to begin the final chapter.
haha, I just read that article.
skepticism aside I am pretty psyched for it. Sonic hasn't disappointed me yet when it comes to sidescrollers, I loved the Advance and Rush games.

I see nothing wrong with this.
