Little. Mostly during Bowser's Special Attacks, some inside minigames, scratch cards, and Bowser's Mega Boss Battles.
You'll use the buttons a lot, but the stylus is still used.
So does anyone use anything besides Jump unless forced to?
I use the hammer to kill enemies whose health is too low to score any extra Excellents from jumping.

Every Giant Bowser Battle was epic imo, though I felt the battle with the Tower of Yikk was the least epic.
1st battle was Bowser VS his own castle!
3rd was a mad chase with fawful's train
and the final one was bowser vs peach's castle(bot), with the mentioned epic black hole launching, though it was annoying at first I must say.
For the X Bosses, you're definitely going to need some decent bro moves to do enough damage to kill them in the turn requirement. The gauntlet gives a recommended level, but from my experience, going into the battle with a couple extra levels under your belt helps to give you more room for error.
For example, I was Level 40 when fighting Dark Star X, and 40 was the recommended level. I was pounding him with Magic Window + Sweets Basket , Falling Star, and STILL just barely one on the last turn!
This is not always the case though. I beat Junker X on my first try with several turns leftover. Though I felt that battle was way too generous anyway. Bowser Memoery M&L is more dependent on luck than level.
Phew, hope that helped. BTW, Level 40 is the secret rank requirement for M&L and Bowser. You get actual items. Excellent!! Badge for Mario Bros., which has remarkable effects(Full HP Recovery, 4x Power Boost, etc)
Bowser gets the Intruder Fangs, which IIRC enables him to have 2 actions.
It was a fun game. Beat it a while ago and started sidequests. The Gauntlet was very difficult, but I somehow managed to beat
Class 7, Bowser X in 28 turns (bear in mind this class ALSO includes Durmite X, Alpha Kretin X, Wisdurm X, Bowser Memory MLX, Junker X, AND Dark Star X before him.)
at Level 42.
...Yes. Really. Level 42.
Though I admit I was a bit cheap since I abused the Falling Star (general attacking) and Mighty Meteor (getting items) attacks so much.
I was at level 14 when I beat Durmite X.
Spamming Spring Helmet. Fun stuff.
I should play this game again cause I finished the japanese version, which was great but I didnt understand anything.
i'm a bad boy and im gonna download it on my R4 card when a europe version comes out, the japanes one freezes into a black screen when you select your save file, the american one freezes the intire screen when you are about to select your save file
so all hope i have left now is waiting for the europe ( english or benelux edition ) i really wanna play this game tho, the battle system of bowser seems great
I'm sure there's a patch to fix that.
Its supposed to work, but in my R4 the english version still freezes and I patched it.
