Can someone explain to me why everyone's saying that Nintendo was remaking Mario games when they were something that was actually attempted to be improved?
I don't necessarily see why everyone is calling out that there remakes
My roommate calls any games with similar engines remakes, this might be what they mean by that. And if it is I think my ulcer is growing.
I liked the DS version. I swear everyone just loves complaining about things these days.
Wait, since when is Nintendo "doing a bunch of remakes" anyway?
Mario Galaxy, SPM, and NSMB are the most recent mario games.
NSMB just has classic gameplay.
NSMBW is at most a sequel.
How are these remakes?
NSMBW is not a fucking remake.
Sure it may have that classic feel that you felt as a child playing the originals, but at the same time it will be a brand-new experience.
New tailer.
Also my prediction about Peach has been recently shot down by an interview with Miyamoto saying some crap about models and complications..
Here's the article.
The only thing that bothers me is that there's no online. Face it, playing with friends or strangers together (especially with Wii Speak) would have made this one of the best games ever
you know it, it would
Without Wiispeak the game would be unplayable online if you got stuck with someone who sucked. As for online in general, hell I don't see online being that important in this type of game.
As for all this re-make talk, yes it is similar but I wouldn't call it a remake - seems odd ow some would. This still stands as one of the most unexciting Wii games for me though, just can't see it being better than the DS game.
I was in EB Games and I overheard a clerk telling a child "Oh, Mario Galaxy? No you wouldn't like that, it's all 3D and different. If you want a real game try New Super Mario Bros Wii, it plays like a real game. Yes, its just a remake of the DS one, but now it's 4 player on the tv!"
You would trust a person who works at EB games compared to your own judgement?

eb games sucks
also mario galaxy does suck but not because its 3d. because technically nsmb was 3d with some things like mario and luigi and peach and bowser etc. but its a little kid and they want 3d because it has "good graphics" and thats what little kids are all about because theyre all casualfags who dont know shit about games and just want the newest thing out there
also thats what i fear the wii version may be is just like the ds version. only with 4 players. i hope they add some new enemies and stuff otherwise it will just be like playing the ds nsmb on the wii.
Spider, you're talking about "casualfags", but playing "hardcore" games doesn't make people less casual.
Also, it seems like you yourself don't know "shit" about games, because, as far as I know it, games were there to casually entertain us, making us all casual gamers.
Wow trust Gary to caring, understanding and non-offensive...
And Gary your wrong anyway, I don't think anyone plays Ghouls n Ghost to be "casually" entertained.
I really don't know people hate Galaxy so much, I mean it was all right. And as much as I love 2D games I would never go so far to say that 3D games aren't "real" games. I mean hell Demon Souls doesn't really hold your hand now does it?
I don't understand why people hate Galaxy at all.
It was a really great game IMO. Much more improved gameplay than Sunshine, and has beautiful graphics and music.
The only faults were the straight-forwardness of the level design (when compared to the other two 3D Mario games anyway) and the false propaganda the game made. When you saw the screens of it and all, it felt like you could freely fly to other planets or that it'd be something automatic, but still with some control and gameplay added to it.
There was one thing I disliked about Super Mario Galaxy, and that was the lack of replay value.
I mean, okay, it was fun to run through and nab every star in the game (there were some actual challenges to getting a bunch of those stars), but after unlocking Luigi mode, it got to the point where it was just "meh", and replaying every level as Luigi was just redundant.
and jesus christ there's no way in hell I'm refighting that ghost boss with one-hit-and-you're-done mode on again
Agreeing with the above two posts.
Super Mario Galaxy wasn't bad, it was pretty great but the problem was you wouldn't touch it again after a while because even beating the game once felt like you got everything out of it.
To be blunt, I would have liked it if they added a few extra stars. They didn't necessarily need to make Luigi playable, It was fun for awhile with a little more difficulty, but there was nothing completely outstanding by the time you got another 60 stars with him and made it repetitive, which is why I'd rather have a few other galaxies and shit.
This is what I hope to see fixed in Super Mario Galaxy 2, with all what has been seen so far looks like it has much more potential then the first, and hopefully they can add a little more then just a few extra additions like Yoshi or a few new power-ups.
