The same thing's happened to me in the past. One particular one that comes to mind was Crystalis, which has such a massive project for ripping it. I was thinking about it, and before I even started it was practically 80% ripped! XD
I'm doing a quick submission. I have more coming, but I'm not gonna have much time to make sheets for a couple days. I just thought I'd add this because I've had it in my queue for sheeting for a long time. I even found out the guy's name! Now I can safely say that he is a rip-off of Black Mantle... either that, or Black Mantle is a rip-off of Dark Cloak. xD

You gotta love how those old game villains enjoys to grow up 3 times when then get to their second form.
Good ones
Okay you ARE reading my mind. I wanted that guy ripped for a while. Mainly because he looks just like a villain I used to have in my old hand-drawn comics.
Okay, I did find a little more time today, so here's a fun one: the bosses of Ninja Gaiden II and III for the SNES Trilogy! The site's gone far too long with only the first game's bosses ripped. Also, pardon the fact that the final bosses both have black backgrounds and no outlines. That's the way they really are. Just use them on dark backgrounds. xD
Awesome. And yes, the original Ninja Gaiden games were poster childs of the NINTENDO HARD genre.
The music was awesome, especially in the 3rd game and more if you consider that it was produced by the NES's piddly sound chip.
Incidentally, I found the music, and even the graphics to be superior in the NES version. Sure, the SNES had more colors most of the time, but their color choices look so pukey sometimes... The music just seemed slower compared to some of the NES tracks, which had a bit more kick to them. Another thing I found weird was that they changed tracks in the Trilogy. The most noticeable is the fact that all the regular boss music for II and III are replaced by I's final boss music, which was changed to this very up-tempo thing that worked well as boss music, but didn't seem to fit the final boss for the game it was originally in very well. -Shrugs-
Okay, I sweaaar that I'll have less time to work on these soon and that I'll stop flooding submissions like this. xD Then again, I'd love to keep being able to do them at this frequency... the only problem is that at this rate I might run out of games I can effectively rip! =X
Anyway, I've finally completed the Pocky and Rocky bosses, and I even threw in some minibosses for this one, seeing as the bosses were as simple to rip as they were simple to defeat in the game itself. xD I've also gotten another Secret of Mana rip, this time Hexas! She was a doozy, despite not having the most poses or layers out there.
Tacked in at the very end is the final boss of Ys 3, a boss that, somehow, left a big impression on me... most purple villains seem to do that to me for some reason. Galbalan, Vile, Dark Cloak, Black Mantle... xD But I also felt compelled to track down the Genesis version, and rip that as well. However, in the Genesis version, he is translated as Demanicus, which, incidentally, was his translated name on the english TurboGrafix PC Engine (is that what it's called?) version. He also has bitchin' boss music, depending on what version you play.
And yes, the name Pyrate Pete is probably one of the more official names from my P&R rips... He, Mr. Obo and the Ghost Knight are all named in the American manual. With that horrible spelling too.
I don't believe I'm that late to thank you for ripping Ninja Gaiden! Oh, wait, you ripped YS too! And more Secret of Mana! You sure have been busy.
Oh god, japanese games have weird bosses O_o
still, nice rips
Any chance of a Ys 3 Genesis icon?
There's one... sans title. I work in MS paint, and it has a groooootessque method of anti-aliasing text no matter what you do. See my rips close up and you'll see what I mean. xD I can't get icon maker to work, so... xD
I have a quick question about the Icon Maker from this thread:
http://www.spriters-resource.com/communi...n+Maker%22
The place I run into problems is step one: " - Start the program (extract it from the .zip-archive first, and run the .jar-file with a java runtime environment (don't extract the .jar-file))."
What is a java runtime environment, and which files do I extract? All but the .jar file?
