i hate higu's VN I can't stand to read it because the art is so fucking amateur and offputting
the anime has some pretty amateur-ish mistakes in season one but a lot of them are hardly noticeable

I just finished watching the Higuashi anime.
Series 1 was a lot more graphic than Series 2. Rik'as death is smalltime compared to some of the shit that happens later.

The Umineko Visual Novel is better than the anime
I've not followed Umineko; but for the most part I'm reluctant to follow VNs. Mostly because 9/10 times they just descend into hentai. Apparently the Higurashi VN doesn't, but I don't really care about playing it anyway.
