There was, and it was stupid as heck since the GBASP was way better.

Oh, I forgot about that. Personally, the GBAM is in the same boat as the DSiLLfor me because although it was smaller, it didn't have the clamshell (meaning the screen could get scratched), the button placement was odd (start and select on the bottom because it was so small), and it couldn't play GB/GBC games.
A step backwards for Nintendo, yet they still raked in cash off of it.
