They seem kind of randomly placed. I say we keep them in either horizontal or vertical rows by series.
Well, I guess it's time for me to post this now, eh Ton?

Note: I made this some time ago, so the characters are somewhat outdated.

I still favor the horizontal rows. They fit better that way. Ekoi, one of the things I'd change about yours is that you have the Metroid characters on top of rows of Pokemon characters. Kind of odd.
I think A would be cool, with a card as a BG of them while they 3d rotate. That would be kind of hard, though :l

I like either option
Also, this thread is kind of important, shouldn't it be under 'important threads'?
I guess one thing that would need to be decided is if we're doing Blank spots for unlockable characters, or doing it like Brawl where it's an auto-adjusting list.

The latter would obviously be more difficult to program, but would still be more feasible.
I think auto-adjusting would be cooler.
I think we would want to keep the number of total number of unlockables a secret. So either have auto-adjust, or a combination like SSBM had (it had some boxes at the bottoms, but the ones on the very edges just appeared)
This must be said. If we're going to have DLCs and what not (assuming we are), we'll need to make modifications to the roster placement and such

Also, I think that this is really where I could help out, as I could draw out pencil sketches of the characters, then someone could go outline them and make them PAs.
I was kinda hoping we stick with the cartoony style we have the sprites in now.
Yeah, I'm not much of a fan of the Strikers style idea.
While I personally do like the Strikers style, I don't think it would work well with the project.

I think an art style like the one used for SSB64's boxart would best fit this project. Thick outlines, 2 to 3 shades (with some AA), and thin inside lines.

EDIT: Oh wait, that's not the same style. Well, I still think those basic guidelines would work. Also, while it is important for the art to look cool, it shouldn't necessarily look edgy.
i vote for strikers. we should go for our own thing rather than dry humping what nintendo already made
That's a contradictory statement...
