Thanked by: Kitsu
I'm currently working on Wolf's theme, and have already an idea for Bowser Jr. in my head.
Here's a preview of Wolf's: [Star Fox - Wolf (Preview)] It's still missing a lot of instruments, as well as a chunk of melody after that one, seeing as looping it in this form will sound very awkward. I know, I've tried listening to it, and it really sounds like it misses just that part. I want to make it sort of sound like those character select sequences in Soul Calibur, seeing as it really does need an epic feel, but also needs to sound at ease, or at least not as if it's a massive battle that's going on. It's also the reason I slowed it down tremendously. Yes, I know what I'm doing. Anyway, I've been thinking of Geno's theme, and you know what? I'll just give it a try. If it doesn't work, I'll tell you, and let you listen why it doesn't work in my opinion. Anyway, what I'm working on right now, in order of priority: Wolf's jingle loop Bowser Jr.'s jingle loop Krystal's jingle loop / Geno's jingle loop ??? Also, I've updated Peach's jingle loop yet again, seeing as it really didn't export right. And I'm working on moving the music to a different folder. EDIT: Added reverb to Wario's jingle loop.

It says the file isn't there...
Updated link.
Also made a half-assed attempt at creating an Animal Crossing one. I wanted to blend the various victory songs into one, but it feels a bit empty. [Animal Crossing - Villager] I still think we should call him Smashvillager. I mean, face it, if Nintendo ever wants to use the Villager, they can't use Smashvillager anymore, because we already used it in our fangame.
There's a great difference from all the loops. Peach's lacks drums, Wario has him singing, Bowser's is too fast, Ridley doesn't sound like there much music there at all...
The only one's that sound in sync are Samus and Fox... I thought this was more suited for Wario victory loop anyway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fmzy0gEfE...re=related For Yoshi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EU8yat4VXU0

I have to say those both sound like decent choices.
@koopaul,
Well, he was also trying to get them to fit the characters. Peach doesn't get drums because it doesn't fit her well. Ridley's lack of a "real" song provides an eerie feeling that goes pretty well with his character (anything else would make it sound like you're still fighting). With Wario, the "nya nya nya" fits his absolute silliness that he acquired from the WarioWare series. With Samus and Fox, the two have very heroic themes because, they are the heroes. With your suggestion for Yoshi, I'd have to say I like that one just as much as the Yoshi's Story Results Screen theme, so I can't really choose. @Gary, AC's song actually sounds okay. I can't exactly say what could improve it; it just sounds less epic and grandiose than the others.
Koopaul, aside from the fact that I at this point really don't give a crap if most of my songs won't even make it in the final game, it seems that all you do is make critique (not just in this topic by the way) in a way as if you know better.
First of all, Peach's doesn't need drums. Aside from it being bullshit, it would really take away from the gentle nature. The only reason both Fox' and Samus' has drums is to give it a more military feeling. About Bowser and Ridley, I might agree. However, there are two things here. If people like it, don't change it, and in defense of Ridley, he wasn't really all that much to work with anyway. Besides, adding more to it actually takes away from the mystery surrounding him. Then, on the other scale of the deal, changing the tempo of Bowser's theme would probably take away from the dynamic of the original song, as well as from the victorious nature of it. However, I've made one final render for it, with its tempo changed from 140 to 125. [Super Mario - Bowser] Also, I already decided in favor of Ton's suggestion, especially since I can work with at least one real instrument with that. Yeah, and that's really the biggest problem. I want it to sound a bit more victorious.

Personally, I think Bowser's theme slowed down sounds better. It better fits the more relaxed nature of the results screen.
Yeah I just felt that there should be some consistency that all the characters get a victorious relaxing kinda loop, I think that all the songs can be remixed in that sorta way. Without drums in Peach's song it lacks the victorious feel. Like this...

Try adding a horn of some kind to Villager.

The AC song seems rather quiet and then the claps just boom in comparison.
Actually, not to belittle your music making skills as your songs are pretty awesome, but from what I've heard the percussion instruments are much louder than any of the other instruments. You think you could either quiet down the percussion or make the other instruments louder? Maybe more so the latter then the former.

Maybe add that whistle or something? Was there a whistle?
The orchestral VSTi is a bitch to use, so quite often, the percussions do come out louder than should be in the final print. They can easily be altered though.
Anyway, I've actually removed a bit from Bowser's loop, and in my opinion, this one's better. But I'll let you decide. Yeah, I was thinking of adding a whistle, but I'm figuring out what the perfect timing is. |
