except you really can't generalize a fanbase. sonic just has a particularly convoluted one but that doesn't mean each fan is as mishmashed as the generalization. most fans know what they want, they all just want something different.

raise your hand if you want an action platformer that is based on the first 3 and sonic CD..

oh okay so you're saying that basing on a generalization about complaints of a portion of Sonic fans means that no one has any right to say what Sonic 4 should look like or be, giving complete and total freedom for the developers of Sonic 4 doing whatever the fuck they want and even be able of doing a game about Shadow the Hedgehog instead, is that it?

Since no one can be happy with what little hope they are given whatever they have should be shut down or taken away. The freedom of speech is a freedom one can lavishly enjoy because everyone thinks their way is best. I don't condone complaint on my product with a 3 second teaser. I don't care how much you could do it than me, and I don't care how horrible it looks I've got till June to finely tweak, SEGA has enough information from the 10 years running of complaints to know what you wanted in 2005. I know SEGA and Sonic Team have been fucking it up but I want to at least give them a chance to see where they go. Sides, nothing I do or say will on the internet of all places will affect how good or better the game will be.

Call me on it Rokkan, but I don't care. You, me, no one has the right to bitch at anything at this point as far as I'm concerned. Since lot's of people already stated there's so little to bitch about. Keep in mind like everyone else, this is just my opinion at how badly a lot of people are handling the best news we've gotten in quite some time.
