My older 22x22 icon set of many more items and objects (Mega Mushroom still breaks the limit, I've since abandoned these in favour of the 25x25 ones in this topic, a few pixels can make all the difference). It's also the reason all the sub-types are not my first priority this time around. I will get to them eventually, though.

Working in 25x25 tiles seems like a good idea and would eliminate my worries about needing more space for larger items. I'll make a mock-up of a menu screen once I have some more of these done.

From the days I don't happen to have a spriter's block, which happens more often than it used to.

by the way, you don't even need more room for the mega mushroom. after all it has its own set of distintive colors that do the work on their own. making the top a bit oversized should be fine. just to add more character

Good sprites, good stuff. The one of the problem with the sprite pictures is that it should go into the Submission Forum not Sprite Discussion. Another problem is that animated .gifs are not allowed as sprites. They are only allowed as avatars and signatures.

Regarding the sprites, they wouldn't look out of place in a Mobile Phone game. Good stuff, indeed.

Wow! You always impress. I would do something about Sonic's head. I know the quills are in the back but he still seems bald. Also I'd love to see Mario Party items like the Bowser Suit Mushroom.

I tried a couple different Sonic heads back when I made it, but that one up there was the best out of them.

The shading in the low part can be better. Also, the face don't look chubish.

Yes, that's better, but right now it still looks like a big Mushroom, and not a real Mega Mushroom. I think Mushrooms are your flaw. There's a little edit of myself:
