I'd like to propose a new section for the Models Resource. Tell me your thoughts.
#1
Hey everyone. As I was working on modding a game today I came up with an idea,"Wouldn't it be nice is people on the The Models Resource could tell people what it was they were using the models submitted for?"

I think this would be a great section because with models there are countless things that could be done with them whether it be short 3D videos, modding another game with a model from here, using the models to make still image art, or countless other things.

So I was thinking perhaps we should create a new section for the Models Resource portion of the forum titled, "What Are You Doing?" or something like that where people can post just that, what they're doing with the models we post. There could be people skilled with 3D models, just they don't rip them so they don't post much. This would give them that opportunity. Or perhaps your doing something and then someone else also turns out to be doing that same thing and then you both could work together on it.

I think this would help bring our community closer together by allowing us to express ourselves more.

I realize there's the creative zone section for everything. But in my opinion something more directly related to just the models and as a general category with models sounded like a good idea.

What are your thoughts?

I see this as a stickied thread in Model Discussion' more than a board/subboard in its own right.

While it's a fair idea - this place is stil recognised (and NAMED, no less!) the Spriters Resource. At this point in time we don't have enough of a model-enthusiast community to warrant an entire section. Maybe in the future! But yeah - feel free to make a thread for that purpose if you feel so inclined.

Oh; ShadowTH, your word in regerds to how this Board division is handled has more weight than mine - what do you think?
Specs 'n' Headphones has been revamped! Check it, yo.

I suppose a stickied thread could work. My concern was that it could get messy if it were all in one thread. Say someone wanted a project like thread where they maintain the first post and post updates for their specific project? Now I don't really have anything like that myself just yet. But I suppose a good idea would be to make a thread first, and based on what success that has then perhaps a section may be earned?

Edit: I understand not wanting a ghost town of a section. Though with only 3 main sections for this portion of the forum I wouldn't be to concerned with having too many sections.

Well personally I'd say for now to just have a stickied thread for it. I mean there's no reason we can't make a section for it later on if we want right? It'd be cool to have a section for that, but right now I don't think there's enough of a demand to have an entire section for it yet.

I really like where you're going with this, Zerox. Since sprites are used pretty much everywhere on the internet, it would only be fair to create a section to let us know what are models are up to.

Well I appreciate the opinions shared. Though since the general opinion of those in charge seems to be that a thread should be made first and if successful stickied and should the need arise then we'll move to a new section. Though your still welcome to share opinions on this in this topic.

I actually like this idea alot. I plan to use the models Zerox and hopefully later on my KOS-MOS and Xenosaga models to make a mod. Personally, my first goal is to make a FPS starring KOS-MOS (well, mainly best to make it feel like you're KOS-MOS than a game, similar to a demo). I first need to learn more in both areas before I can get work done though.

Nice, seems you know how to use the program enough to make some nice screens. I'm curious by chance, do you know how to import MMD models into other modeling programs like Blender and 3D Max? I know the file format of them is .PMD if that helps any. Just curious and keep up the nice work.

i actually don't make anything but edits. the ray model was ripped by zerox i converted it's obj. file into an x. file and resized it so that it is small, zerox is makeing a PMD out of the same metla gear ray model, so i just make acessory items. as for the old snake model, i just took the texture of the model and edited it until it looked like old snake, i'm curently looking for an eyepatch to put on the model. there is a Big Boss model on MMD but it's not a ripped model, it's a hand made one, it's not too bad but it kinda looks odd next to the Solid Snake model. I'm thinking about editing my Grey Fox mmd model into the other Cyber ninja from MGS2. a simple edit of textures can change the whole model

How do I go by making any PMD file into that of a X file by chance? This can really help me out on some things.

erm.... i don't know. normally u turn a .x file INTO a PMD file, PMD files are posable miku dance models that can dance and stuff, x. files are things like hats or leeks that arn't part of the model but can be equipped to the PMD's bones.
