Being flippant about people's genuine concerns about social injustice is a dickheaded thing to do. You only get to do that because of privilege.
Doubly shitty when the implication is that the concept of "femininity" is to make men cower.
A joke is never just a joke.

Oh by the way; anyone can partake in the mod Challenge if they so choose; but unfortunately there is no reward/penalty for non-challenger participation.
This way, everyone can get a lesson in humility! Female participants have to pose as Dudebros/Neckbeards/Duke Nukem.

The problem with this thread is that it was never a debate. It was a bunch of members sitting on their high horses and getting pissed off whenever their opinions were challenged.

To make long things short: me, Gluk, Tachikoma, Sengir, GrooveMan, Algony, Skeleton, RetroX, and some others just had a huge Skype convo in which we basically reconciled our differences. In the process, I've realized that basically, I wasn't thinking about the "big picture" of things, and a lot of points I was trying to make and/or refute "in the context of videogames" were basically completely irrelevant to the topic at hand; I was essentially being shortsighted. So, sorry for being a cock in this thread guys

I also was kicked from the chat because I didn't uh, understand the context before coming in and made a complete fool of myself. I was typing too quickly and not thinking, I guess (actually I know, but yeah).

One should not get warned for their opinions whether you feel they are wrong or not.
I already said I think the male gaze is bad if it done on a woman that is supposed to be a strong character.
When a character was designed to get a man off, I don't see it as harmful since that was her design.
It is the same as going to a strip club. Men go there to be entertained. Right?
Well why is it okay for there to be strip clubs but its not okay to have that stuff in movies or games?
Here's why. It happen almost all the time and to almost all the wrong women.
This is the problem, not the male gaze itself, but its misuse.
The male gaze has been abused and used like a norm, instead of being used once in a while on women who aren't supposed to be developed.
In my opinion, it is damaging because of how much it is used and when it is used, not because it exists.
I even stated before that Bayonetta is offensive because the creator believes those are the qualities of a strong women.
It wrong to objectify women in society. I am annoyed by commercials of sexy women saying this is how you should be. I really am!
I riff old Disney movies on how the princesses can only cook and clean and wish for a handsom prince. How pathetic!
Really! Its terrible to expect women to look a behave the way they do in the media.
But men still liked to be entertained in certain ways...
Now I should explain my... very alarming masterbation post. That was to state that all straight men (at some point in time) will objectify women in their fantasies no matter what. It can't be helped. It doesn't mean that this is how they see women kind. Its just our stupid primal personal pleasure.

You're still pretty much saying that masturbatory aid for female roles in casual entertainment is a good thing.
