Like, say, if a topic is 2 weeks old it's automatically closed unless the thread starter says otherwise. I think this could cut down on the rampant necroposting that's been going on recently.

I thought this has already come up as to why this is a bad idea.

Ok lets go over this again.

Because, if someone wants to update their art topic or submission topic or bump a legitly bumpable topic, they wouldn't be able to do it unless it was less then two weeks old.

Seriously it's just easier to lock every once in a while rather then to open threads for people all of the time.

Why not make the original creator of the thread able to open it again.

As I point you to the very top post of this page, which has a quote of mine as to why thats not entirely possible.

Not sure if it's been brought up already, but the search function doesn't seem to show up on the textures/ sounds/ models resources. The actual search function works if you change the url of a search from the spriters resource, ( http://www.models-resource.com/search/?q=mario&g=1 ) but as far as the search bar goes it's not on the other sites.

Yeah, it's something we failed to implement before releasing the sites (and I really regret it) - it'll be reinstated in the new releases.

Hello tSR! First post, so I apologize in advance if this has been discussed elsewhere.

First off, if you'll indulge me, I want to thank you for being my number one resource. I'm a game designer, not an artist, in my first year of uni, and you guys are by far the best I have found. That having been said, I do have one suggestion regarding the way you make sprite sheets. It would be really great if, when you submit a sheet, you make sure each frame of animation is evenly spaced between all the others. I say this because unlike in animation, where I imagine you simply choose what frame you want to use ahead of time and simply make sure everything lines up as you go along, games need to dynamically switch between animations. How we were taught, and what I imagine the standard is, is to identify a cell based on its upper left-hand pixel and define its width and height (in C# anyway). In order to switch frames, you simply add a predetermined amount to either the x or the y coordinate of the cell on the sheet. While this works fine if all the sprites are perfectly aligned with each other, if they aren't, you get sprites bleeding into each other, sprites jittering back and forth, and if the cells vary greatly in height or width, you cut off any details that don't fit into your predetermined values.

While this is manageable if the sheet is small enough, with bigger sheets you end up having to rearrange all the cells yourself. I know it seems like its nitpicking, but you guys work to pixel point perfection anyway, why not extend that to the entire sheet? It really is one thing that exponentially decreases the amount of work necessarily to get animations to play smoothly during runtime.

Once again, I apologize if this has been brought up before. I'm new to the community, and plan on sticking around for a long time (may even start spriting Smile just downloaded Graphics Gale for SnG's) so if you could direct me to where this was brought up, I'd be eternally grateful. Additionally, if any of you are programmers and know what I'm talking about, and know of an easy way of dealing with this problem that I didn't consider, that would be even better Smile.
Once again once again, thanks for being my one stop shop for all my sprite needs Big Grin. You will of course be individually and collectively credited with anything I produce, and I look forward to taking a larger part in the community.

I'd do away with the 20-posts-rule. Have something different instead. All you get is necroposters. I know, I'm one of them too but I seriously didn't intend to. But without that rule it'd never have happened in the first place (not that it's an excuse or something). I suggest that you should have to do something for the board, like help other people or submit something or that you've got to get some nice feedback so you can "unlock" your permission to post a request. And please don't flame me now again.
Thanked by:
Except without the 20 posts and 1 month membership then all we'd get is requests. The purpose of that Rule is to make yourself friendly with the rest of the community so that way they'd want to help you when you finally request.

It's how we see what type of person you are, are the the type to just post all over the place, not to wait for a response or are you the type of person that gets to know the community before just making a request then leaving forever.

You honestly seem to be the former, which we don't take kindly to those who just expect to request and expect people to do them. Acting like that make us less likely to actually help you.

You know, if you actually took the time to read the rules, read the dates on the last posts of a few threads, had some patience, and actually bothered to get to know us, then you wouldn't have necroposted, you wouldn't have a 40% warn or a negative reputation, you'd probably actually be doing better then what you are now.

Can we finally close the Project Prism board? Its kind of depressing.

I think we should bring back the "Games that need to be ripped" Topic. I mean there's probably a bit of games out there that have yet to be completed.

Take Yoshi's Island for example, the GBA version is more complete than the SNES version's, even though they're just recolors. People would probably prefer the SNES version anyway.

I think a while ago (around a year) there was some form of it that was brought back with some form of reward mentioned if progress was made, but I definitely agree with this.

EDIT: Found it. Smile

Maybe a more extensive list of games so there are more options.

Also, in case there is someone that is new to ripping (or would like to rip from a new system), maybe some tutorials on ripping? I know there's the thread that BaB made (I'm pretty sure it's stickied), but with steps on the different methods through each system.

I'd be willing to contribute to some of the ripping tutorials such as DS and some others, and I'm sure that it could eventually get somewhere.
