material editor
in diffuse slot:
falloff (not bitmap)
in the black material slot, put the diffuse bitmap.
in the white material slot, put the falloff bitmap.
change the perpendicular/parallel setting to fresnel<--- IMPORTANT
you should now have this specular hair effect
if not, switch the bitmaps. i cant remember which bitmap went where

you can also use the color slider on the falloff material to make the effect stand out more instead of using fresnel, since fresnel fails most of the time.

Don't worry, it hasn't been a month so it doesn't count as bumping. Tongue

here ya go. its a bit weird and i dunno if its easier to understand, but it covers the basics.
it gives the model a white outline, giving the illusion of peach fuzz or edge specular.
this effect is good for a lot of things, as long as you have the imagination for it. i used a fruit as an example.

Okay, on the last instruction, how do I get the falloff map on the bottom box? That is the only thing I cannot figure out.
