Without the wordiness, I'd like to restate my question:
Will the music track change when she changes to Magical Girl? I'd suggest making the track exactly one minute long, and that the music doesn't start over each time but continues where it left off. This would give an indicator as to how long you have before your one minute is up. Okay, that was probably even wordier. Whoops

I don't like the music idea because it would get in the way. I imagine that this game would involve transforming yourself a lot and that would pause and resume the music way too much.
What could happen is to make a special accompainment track for Magical Tellis. This way you can mute and unmute it on the go, without getting in the music's way. But this sounds complicated both for a Gameboy game and computer programming. (and I wouldn't like to do that anyways) (Maybe it would be easier if it were a real Gameboy game because the music is synthetized on the go, and muting/unmuting tracks could be done programatically, where in the computer the songs are saved in .ogg format with no freedom to mute separate tracks on the go) There should be a warning when your timer is about to run out though (in such case, flashing the timer and a beep notice would suffice). This would work for both timers. The 5 Minute limit is a placeholder, if it needs to be extended after playtesting, it will. Thanked by: psychospacecow

Maybe the time limit would vary based on levels of difficulty. also, I'm wondering if the time counter would continue during things such as mini-cutscenes or while talking to people. I think that it would discourage the player from ever talking to people in-game if the countdown kept going while talking to folks.

That walk feels so stiff but I guess it's okay considering how you're keeping it consistent with some of the computation tricks used in the GB days.
I'm also pretty interested in the whole "mafia" thing. You should totally somehow combine that with werewolves though, since we've played a bunch of tSR Werewolf and Werewolf is basically a knockoff of Mafia. Would be a cool thing to reference~

Pretty sure the mafia thing pertains to the Slug Mafia, but maybe they can have were-slugs as henchmen, heheh.
