"Compatibility concerns"
There's no return window? I'm behind selling of mods, but I'm also behind all digital goods having a 48-hour return window... "Modders editing other Modders mods" The modders are modifying somebody else's product in the first place. I find this as laughable as the "Do Not Steal Without Credit" tags on ripped sprites. You would hate to see how intricate some of the mods I can't link on here are.

Could you imagine a country with sales taxes of 75%? I would not even want to sell something, knowing that the system will steal 3/4 of my money. Im all for modder being payed for their work, of course, but just Steam is just abusing theirs powers.

It's not "stealing", that's the cost of doing business within that system... which is something you're not obligated to do.

Well youre obligated to use that method if you want to "sell" your mod. But you would buy something 20$ knowing that only 5$ will go to the one that actually worked on the thing you bought? Steam doesnt even test the mods they do absolutely nothing other than show the mods on their site. Thanked by: psychospacecow

But they also developed the game behind it, and already performed all the core bugfixing and patching. Without their game, there'd be no mods. 75% is reasonable.

Oh, i wasnt even thinking about that, i was thinking steam would get the full 75%. But then the question is, how much steam gives to the developer.

Pfft 75% is still outrageous. Congratulations, you made a game. That's what the sales of the game is for. Don't take a ridiculous amount of the pie from the making new content

I hope this doesn't kill the concept forever.
Although it is very clearly flawed in its current form, giving modders the opportunity to make any money from something they love would be amazing. I kind of wish the internet didn't jump on this quite as viciously as they did. It almost makes it seem most people don't want content creators to make money for content at all, even though that's likely far from the truth. Thanked by: Kriven, psychospacecow

Hey folks, I'm trying to compile a comprehensive and unbiased account of the event. Links up top. I'm wondering if there is anything I should add, amend, etc. |
