.....Gonna need at least ONE Platforming joke about Chameleon Twist here. Also Laylee better be a sassy black lady. She looks full of sass. Like that "Oh go on now baby you can do better! Roll on up into a ball and let me ride you so we can bash charging enemies and obstacles!" I mean like that doesn't need to happen but I would love it more if it did.

I like how they shamelessly used the BK font for the new logo.
I think one of the stretch goals feature character designs by another former Rareware developer, so like
I'm pretty sure the character designs are subject to change. Because like what's a mascot platformer without at least a pair of shorts

I think it'll be more like "gwok gwok wok wok gwok"

man i thought the "64-bit" edition would be a low poly mode where the game looked and felt like an N64 game but all it is is an N64 cart with a 64gb flash drive inside :/
that's pretty lame

Yooka could definitely use an article of clothing. Even DK has a tie.

well, apparently they heard your lament, Vipershark - it's one of their new stretch goals (I guess they didn't expect to break one million in less than 24 hours)

Someone brought up something interesting.
So a lot of people are saying the chameleon needs an article of clothing to complete its otherwise generic design a bit. However, someone brought up the notion of that missing as a possibility for camouflage stealth ability. I wouldn't hold my breath that that'd happen, but imagine if it did in this kind of game. What kind of game mechanics could that produce? How would that affect the level design? What overall impact would that have on the game experience? All questions one would need to think about as a game designer.

Chunky Kong's invisibility power.
I swear this entire thread is just going to be old Niintenkids finding reasons to not like something as opposed to finding all the great reasons to like it. Yeah, you're fine to criticize and comment, just making a vocal hypothesis of observation.
(Generic Design....*shake my head*...like Felix the cat and Buggs Bunny? we have a million cats, hedgehogs, turtles, mice, Then we grab a goofy Dreams Works Bat and Chameleon two very un involved animals in mascots and especially in gaming but no these two need an article of clothing especially the Chameleon because dammit; without the back pack or shorts I just don't get Yuuka. Oh and Laylee's nose? too cartoony it's big and noticeable and far too distracting, it's gotta go. I mean it's a video game not an actual cartoon designed for a new generation as well as an old one. What were they thinking?) ~Thinking to myself.
I hope we get a wise cracking Tutorial and move teacher. I can't think of an animal in this style where the jokes just kinda flow.

Even since they reached the 1,000,000 milestone, they added a couple of new stretch goals, including something called an "N64 shader mode." Maybe there's hope for authentically reliving the mid/late 90's yet!

Not possible, because you'd be missing all the fake difficulty tropes, shitty cameras and poor design decisions, lol. I'm pretty sure no one wants to relive THAT xD.

WHile we're on that subject, I can tell you with confidence that we can all agree that we won't miss the staggering amount of pointless collectables found in at least one certain retro N64 game. They promise that they won't do that for this game, but let's see how true to their word they are.

I will miss it.
I missed it so much I replayed it in February, loved it, and plan to replay it again on VC in November/December.

*Bugs Bunny
Yeah well here's the thing about Felix the cat and Bugs Bunny... they're old as dirt. The reason we have a million cats, rabbits, etc. is because of these characters, they're archetypes....
Just because they're not typical animal mascots doesn't mean they were designed very well. I Like Laylee, but Looka needs something to set him apart. They look like something out of one of those knock off "Pixar" movies.

Now that I think of it, Yooka and Laylee look more like supporting/background characters than starring characters. It's not a bad thing, but I can agree that they could use a little more pizazz.
