RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - [robo9] - 09-19-2014 Well when there are a good bunch of advanced techniques that kind of rely on it, it's not that big of a surprise. DI, dash dancing, Smash Di, movement in general, wave dashing occasionally, etc RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - Jermungandr - 09-19-2014 The thumbstick is honestly pretty responsive without you having to literally "smash" it in any direction. I keep performing smash attacks on accident when I'm not even intending to. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - Mystie - 09-19-2014 Just got the demo today. (didn't even know the demo was made public today until a friend on Steam told me, LOL) So far, my favorite character to use is Villager. He has a really fun moveset. As for Mega Man, I will really need to practice with him, since I find him very hard to use at this point. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - senjen - 09-19-2014 I just thought of something if this game does get DLC will those DLC characters get Amiibo's made for them as well? RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - Gwen - 09-19-2014 Was supposed to get my replacement 3ds charger in the mail today, it's filed as delivered, but it's not here. So they've either - lost it - delivered to the wrong person - delivery person is problem some stupid fuck, this is the USPS after all, and I'll probably get it in the next few days. So I can't continue to play like I wanted to. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - TomGuycott - 09-19-2014 (09-19-2014, 04:28 PM)Mystie Wrote: As for Mega Man, I will really need to practice with him, since I find him very hard to use at this point. This seems to be the common consensus among most people who have played the game (both the demo and people who have played it at E3, etc), but I tend to disagree. Out of all the characters in the demo, I find him the easiest for me to play. Something about him just feels so... right to me. I definitely do the best with him compared to the other characters. My personal rating in order of who I play the best with: Mega Man (My man) Villager (Mainly because the computer falls for Timber a lot easier than humans would) Link (A beast, but still behind the other two) Mario (Can't do his kill moves well) Pikachu (I don't play him well in general, despite trying because he's adorable) Two weeks until the official release here, and I am soooooo fucking excited. Also a week from today I have a few vacation days, so I'm excited for that in between to help me get by until then. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - Koopaul - 09-19-2014 I must admit most of my hype for this game has dissapated. Sakurai kinda blew his load too quickly and showed off all the best characters in the beginning. It made you think: "If that's what he's showing us now, imagine what he's keeping secret!" And then you find out and your like: "oooohhhh..." To me, Mega Man feels like one of those "technical" characters, like Sonic in Brawl. He has a very complicated and strange moveset, so I will need to take a lot of time and practice in order to get good with him. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - Iceman404 - 09-19-2014 (09-19-2014, 07:01 PM)Koopaul Wrote: I must admit most of my hype for this game has dissapated. And then you find out and your like: "oooohhhh..." This is exactly my thoughts, and even my brother's thoughts. He showed us all the prime meat early, and what we saw unlocked after all that was... the unwanted scraps on the floor. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - TomGuycott - 09-19-2014 Of course he showed the best stuff off first, they need to sell the game. Brawl was almost the exact same way, showing off most of the main newcomers off before release and making veterans and odd newcomers secret. Take for example Shulk. Kind of an out-there choice from Sakurai's point of view (he said it himself when he introduced him), but he was heavily requested by fans and even EXPECTED by fans to a degree. People who requested him may have been disappointed with his absence and not bought the game if he wasn't in it (in extreme cases). Also, when you purposely go out trying to find out information about a game pre-release, there's always a danger of killing your hype, because you'll know what to expect. I don't really have that problem, personally, in fact my hype for the game is at an all-time high right now because I almost have my hands on it. Also, in modern fighting games it is better to have a very diverse roster right from the start. Most tournament style fighters don't even have unlockable characters anymore, just having everything ready from the get-go so everyone can be played BY everyone. Sakurai considers the game more of a party fighter than a traditional fighter, though, and unlockable characters are staple. If you put all the interesting newcomers behind a wall of unlocks, then there's no hype for them pre-release. I think the choices for the locked vs unlocked does make sense, at least to me. It's not really that different from what went on in Brawl. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - MrYoshbert - 09-19-2014 I'm late to the discussion here, but Considering that the 3DS character select screen sprites recently got ripped and the rippers found unused arrow icons, could DLC be imminent? RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - Mutsukki - 09-19-2014 That arrow could always be a leftover of how the character select screen would work before if they didn't take the names out like in the E3 demo. But it could also be DLC. Also yeah you shouldn't judge it for what was unlockable but by the whole thing. A lot of these surprises were ruined by a leak too, it's not Sakurai's fault people are so impatient about Smash. Also, have some really smart design/programming to make this game viable and beautiful in screen shots Quote:Something I noticed in Training mode RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - Gwen - 09-19-2014 Roomie gave me some pliers, old 3ds charger now in action, if I ever get the usb charger in the mail that'll just be a treat. I could play this demo all day. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - SchAlternate - 09-20-2014 (09-19-2014, 03:39 PM)BullockDS Wrote: I dunno if it's the majority of the Smash community period that's so "spastic and aggressive", but I'd at least agree that this could be said about the majority of the competitive Smash community. It makes me simultaneously saddened and annoyed to hear tales of how some competitive Melee/Brawl players go through like three GCN controllers every year because of how they hammer the living befuck out of the control/C sticks. You'd probably never see a tourney where you won't hear the violent CLACKing of Control Stick. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS - The Spoiler Thread (We have a better first post, neener neener) - Phantom Killah - 09-20-2014 From the demo, I'm really liking the way Link plays especially the jump attack(!) It's really satisfying to jump over pikachu's thundershock and then pummel him in one swift move, makes me think I might enjoy playing little mac. |
