RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Vipershark - 10-24-2014 I actually like Smash 3DS, but I was always expecting it to be nowhere near as good as the U version. It was always obvious that it would be smaller both in content and gameplay so honestly I'm not disappointed by it at all since my expectations were never very high. To say that it should never have existed is kind of ridiculous. Were you expecting both games to be the same in every way, except one was portable? RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Kriven - 10-24-2014 (10-24-2014, 02:40 PM)Vipershark Wrote: Were you expecting both games to be the same in every way, except one was portable? That's the problem for me... They almost are. Smash 3DS now feels like a forty dollar demo for Smash Wii U. Or Smash Wii U a sixty dollar graphics upgrade. There are differences, no doubt, but I don't think they're significant enough to ask $100 in purchase. The way it was hyped that the games would have different modes... I was expecting something a little more substantial than Smash Tour and Event Matches + All 3DS Modes That Aren't Smash Run. The two games should have been just one. It doesn't matter which console got it, but there should have only been one. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - NICKtendo DS - 10-24-2014 No one is forcing you to buy both. One is good for on the go, the other for parties and such. I think they're more than worth their price tags and bought them both, even got one 3DS game for my brother. That's me, that's what I decided to do. I might as well have not if I didn't want to. A friend of mine doesn't have a Wii U, but does have a 3DS and Smash 3DS, so when I visit him, I bring the 3DS version. When I invite my friends over, I fire up the Wii U (when the game is out obviously). Simple. There are reasons to buy the 3DS version, there are reasons to buy the Wii U version and reasons to buy both. The options are there. It's up to you what to do with them. I also want to express my delight for Mewtwo's return, even if I was content with a roster without him. I felt bummed out when I found out he didn't make the cut, especially with the demand and attention he got lately. It's still true after all. Final Smash speculation: Mega Mewtwo Y does Psystrike. Also, Custom Standard Special 2 or 3 should be Aura Sphere, because reasons. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - recme - 10-24-2014 well for starters, you can bring smash3ds with you anywhere you want, so thats enough for me to buy a copy. to compensate for not having portability, you get more features RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - redblueyellow - 10-24-2014 (10-24-2014, 03:20 PM)Kriven Wrote: That's the problem for me... I was expecting something a little more substantial than Smash Tour and Event Matches + All 3DS Modes That Aren't Smash Run. The two games should have been just one. It doesn't matter which console got it, but there should have only been one. In the end, the only thing that is going to be different between the two Smash Bros iterations is the different modes. The gameplay style would be the same, because it is a Super Smash Bros game. My understanding of it is Smash 3DS was a step in a different direction, where they decided to try out making the game compatible for a handheld. Because of the system's limitations, it had content cut. In order for it to stand out as a separate game by itself, they added Smash Run to have something Smash Wii U didn't offer. The games are being advertised as "Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U," so having night and day would be a bit counterintuitive. In that case, if Melee and Brawl had the same characters, what would be the difference between them? Updated graphics, Stage builder, Subspace Emissary, and a few improvements/ changes to Event Matches, Target Test and Home-run Contest, along with an expanded library of music, trophies, and stages. Smash Wii U has updated graphics, Stage Builder, Smash Tour, Event Matches, Master/Crazy Orders, along with an expanded library of music, trophies, and stages. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Kriven - 10-24-2014 In order to fully take advantage of either version you need the other, right down to Mewtwo's eventual release. That isn't options, that's extorting consumers who want to experience everything the game has to offer. The Wii U modes aren't... anything special. Event Matches and Smash Party, but nothing even close to the scale of Smash Run. The fact that Smash 3DS minigames are ported over just make it all seem cheap... Smash Wii U needed to have a lot more going for it to ask for two purchases and an inherently higher price. The only thing keeping it afloat right now are the unique stages, which never needed to be split across multiple versions anyway. I think the game will be fun, I think I'll still buy it... but their marketing has shown off just how same everything is going to be, and that has killed the hype. The lack of an Adventure Mode or some kind of Smash Run equivalent (but not clone) is also a giant letdown. Melee and Brawl weren't released two months apart. I'm not disappointed with it, I knew from the beginning that it wasn't going to be as good. Why does it need to exist if it's limiting the real deal? The style of game it is doesn't work well at all on a handheld If it had some way of making it stand out from the Wii U game with some sort of cool mode that compliments the platform it's on that'd be cool... but it just took time and resources away from a superior experience. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - NICKtendo DS - 10-24-2014 (10-24-2014, 03:57 PM)Kriven Wrote: In order to fully take advantage of either version you need the other, No, you don't. To get Mewtwo and the soundtrack CD, sure, but that's purely promotional. I assume Mewtwo will be paid DLC for those who don't own both versions. It's likely he'll be part of a pack, like the latest Nintendo DLCs, even if he's the only character. Is it so bad to pay a few bucks if you don't want to spend 40-60 for the other game? RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Kriven - 10-24-2014 When we have more than speculation about that being the case, I'll let you know. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - [robo9] - 10-24-2014 You know, I can see them doing a clone pack DLC. Hopefully it would be more of a Falcon-Dorf and Mario-Doc and Luigi relationship than a Pit-Pittoo or Marth-Lucina relationship. I may be the only one, but I'd love to see Doc Louis being a slow and patient Little Mac clone RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Kriven - 10-24-2014 (10-24-2014, 07:14 PM)Sportoise Wrote: You know, I can see them doing a clone pack DLC. Hopefully it would be more of a Falcon-Dorf and Mario-Doc and Luigi relationship than a Pit-Pittoo or Marth-Lucina relationship. I definitely want a Clone and Alt Character pack... and honestly I want Dry Bowser to be in there, although he'd be a little less cloney than others... I'm thinking Dry Bowser, he would be Brawl's Bowser taken in a different direction. With SSB4 they said: "Let's make Bowser more cartoony and less beastly," but with Dry Bowser it should be the opposite, complete with the return of the crawl-run, although in Dry Bowser's case it would be this creepy literally crawl where he's quickly dragging himself across the field by his front arms. Doc Louis idea is also solid. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - TomGuycott - 10-24-2014 Just off the top of my head. Some oddball ones mixed in just to see who's paying attention. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Kriven - 10-24-2014 Honestly if Wart did get in, I'd rather he was some kind of clone amalgam... Like Bowser's fire breath (modified to bubbles) but King Dedede's Up B and Yoshi's grab attacks. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - TomGuycott - 10-24-2014 Really more clones SHOULD be like that. They've KIND OF tested the waters with Dark Pit getting another final smash based on another character's mechanics. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Kriven - 10-24-2014 Well, Mewtwo as kind of that way as well (Samus' B attack, Ness' jumping, Zelda's teleport, Fox's back throw). |
