RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - [robo9] - 10-27-2014 (10-27-2014, 08:56 PM)Fool in the Sky of Diamonds Wrote: I don't see the problem with this... I think the picture is pointing out the drop in quality from the e3 pictures to the actual product RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Iceman404 - 10-27-2014 I noticed the insane quality drop on Peach there, it was stark. Although it is realistic, they have to mass produce these and all. Still a bit disappointing, the originals looked jawdroppingly detailed. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Kriven - 10-27-2014 I thought we were looking at Authentic vs. Counterfeit, to be honest x.x; RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Jermungandr - 10-28-2014 The ones seen at E3 were most likely prototypes. They would have had to change things to (a) make them easier to mass produce, (b) keep them from easily being destroyed and falling apart (hence the transparent plastic holding Villager up there), and © keep production costs low so that they can actually make a profit and not make them too costly for the consumer. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Gors - 10-28-2014 They're priced at 13 dollars a unit INCLUDING mechanical device to be read by the consoles, of course something is going to be cut to be easier to mass produce. The prototype model shown at E3 is hand-manufactured, which demands more time, a professional painter and carver, etc. while the mass production relies more on machines to achieve the same result. And the sold product needs to be sturdier to endure play, and conform with the American toy norms (soft plastic for pointy details such as swords and crowns, undetachable parts due to swallowing hazard etc. This is not a niche action figure product, it is a toy aimed at kids and adults alike, and you know kids can be dumb and break/hurt themselves/swallow these toys. I did it once when I was small. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - MrYoshbert - 10-28-2014 Maybe they'll have limited-quantity Super Special Handcrafted Collector's Edition Amiibo which resemble the E3 versions later down the line. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Helmo - 10-28-2014 Wow I just searched for a few more of these and they seem to be a real mixed bag. Some of them look like absolute garbage and others look about the same. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Terminal Devastation - 10-28-2014 I'm sort of hoping they'll release special high quality versions that look like the E3 versions at some point as well. But if all else fails, I'm pretty sure there are a few people out there willing and able to "mod" the mass production models into the sort of high quality the E3 one have. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - GaryCXJk - 10-28-2014 (10-28-2014, 08:23 AM)MrYoshbert Wrote: Maybe they'll have limited-quantity Super Special Handcrafted Collector's Edition Amiibo which resemble the E3 versions later down the line. I wouldn't be surprised. In fact, I did hear that amiibo could be customly crafted, like, if some Nintendo exec wanted he could order a Mii amiibo for himself to be used for some game that uses Mii characters. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - psychospacecow - 10-28-2014 If I'll be honest, I think it'd be a lot cooler if they had them in a support trophy casing. Like, the figure is there encased in the dome and any area that would be filler would have plastic in it instead. It might be a little optimistic, but it'd certainly keep them in the poses w/o odd supports and it'd fit with something currently present within the game. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Jermungandr - 10-28-2014 I think they want them to double as actual toys, like Skylanders do. Kids don't want to play with a plastic box. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Lemonray - 10-29-2014 I'd actually planned to buy at least a few characters, when these things were first announced. Now I'm not really sure. I think Toon Link would be hard to mess up so I'll probably still be getting him. Hopefully, Lucario and Lucina will come out okay but I'm not expecting them to. Kids don't want to play with a plastic box. Fair enough. I'm just thinking in terms of quality control. You're right though. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - BullockDS - 10-29-2014 If they make a Dr. Mario amiibo, I'd probably get one (because if nothing else, when the hell else will Dr. Mario-related merch be made?). RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Jermungandr - 10-29-2014 I am pretty sure that each fighter will get one eventually; it's been pretty strongly implied that that is the plan. It will probably be dependent on how well they sell though, so if you're interested in a certain character getting a figure in the future, make sure you support the sales of the current figures. I don't think the quality of the Amiibos is as bad as people seem to be acting. I everyone's expectations seem to be set a bit unrealistically high. I would like to collect them all, to be honest, but being the incredibly poor person that I am, I probably won't be able to buy more than one or two. |
