RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Koh - 07-16-2016 There's all sorts of shit happening surrounding GO right now, lol. What the hell is wrong with these people, it's really not that hard to glance up and look around yourself while playing the game. And trespassing on private property (or closed public property like that zoo) just for the sake of a game? Really, is it that serious? Also, I love how just last year, despite the original version of this game, Ingress, having already been a thing for 2 years, and other AR games emerging, the public was like "You gamers need to get outside!" And now that they are outside, and stupid people are getting themselves into serious trouble, they're like "You gamers need to go back inside!" Like, pick a side, jesus, lol. RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Gussprint - 07-16-2016 Wanna know something funny? There's this one comedian over here who basically called the crazy shoot-yo'self-in-da-foot stunts people manage to do with smartphones "Darwinism in action".* Not quite related to PKMNGO, but that honestly doesn't sound too far off, all things considered. Also, I take it we're not even going to acknowledge the uber-religious folks retreadin' that ol' "Pokémon's the work of the DEVIL!!" schtick again, are we? *That's the ultra-abridged version. RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Koh - 07-16-2016 This is pretty dang cool. http://ads-tweaks.gamer-network.net/features/2016-02-12-these-voxel-legend-of-zelda-images-makes-us-want-a-remake-of-a-link-to-the-past RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - miyabi95_ - 07-16-2016 i'd die for a remake of alttp. even if they keep the pink hair, i'd be all over that shit. RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - miyabi95_ - 07-17-2016 also, Happy 20th to Soul Calibur! A reminder that us retro gamers are getting old. RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Gussprint - 07-17-2016 And addin' that to the list of 20-year anniversaries I completely skimmed over... Not that I particularily care for Soul Calibur or anything, but yeah. Plenty of anniversaries that I missed out on as of late. RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - BullockDS - 07-18-2016 I'm surprised nobody here's talking about the NES Classic Mini that was recently unveiled by Nintendo. Basically, it's a plug-n-play system which has 30 NES games included (scroll down here for a list). It comes with an NES-style Classic Controller which can also be bought separately for $10, but the system takes the Classic Controller or CC Pro as well (although for no discernible reason whatsoever, one controller HAS to be the NES-style controller if you're doing two player). This will sell for $60 in November. Personally, I think this is a touch silly for how much it costs (especially for the more casual market which this seems most geared to). PnP systems have cost less for years; SEGA's PnP systems have been kicking this thing's ass through its hat for less money by offering many more games and features (such as a Genesis cartridge port in addition to having tons of built-in games, having TWO controllers with the system, etc). At least the library for this thing is decent, the HDMI out is neat (because pretty much every other PnP only has the crappest composite video imaginable) and the controllers costing $10 a pop is really cool so I'll be picking up one or two of those. RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Koh - 07-18-2016 It's missing Startropics 2 and Crystalis ><. Other than that, it's a neat little thing I guess. But I'm not sure who their target audience is. Between emulation and virtual console, what void is this filling? RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Kriven - 07-18-2016 If this were made with mechanical parts (to avoid hardware emulation) and had access to the Nintendo eShop and was intended as a more accurate Virtual Console service, I would see the point... but I guess that's not the case. RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - miyabi95_ - 07-18-2016 i'm sure there's a market for people who can't afford today's selection of consoles (and who can blame them really). Like with the Tiger LCD games that I'm pretty positive are still selling at those small party stores. And my family was once at a point where we couldn't afford what was hip and cool. I spent many years playing NES and Game Boy while everyone else was playing GCN, PS2, and Xbox. RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - BullockDS - 07-18-2016 Again, though, I think that's just a problem with the NES Classic Mini; its price point isn't nearly ideal for what it does. RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - miyabi95_ - 07-18-2016 Two things about the list I'd like to point out: They left out Contra, one of the best platformers of the 80s, but instead included Super C, the inferior sequel; I kinda find it funny how BUBBLE BOBBLE is missing a trademark symbol. RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - miyabi95_ - 07-22-2016 Gotta go fast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxmtYdEWVzo RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Jermungandr - 07-23-2016 Guys. GUYS. It is of the utmost importance that I go to Japan RIGHT NOW. http://kirbycafe.jp/ This is a real cafe that opens next month. I think I'm getting a cuteness overdose just from looking at the pictures O_o. RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Goemar - 07-23-2016 For the price, I don't know - seems pretty neat. I mean yeah you could get a Wii for probably the same, but you'd still have to buy the games, use a wiimote (even with a different controller plugged in) etc etc. For a plug in and play thing, it's pretty cool. No Contra is a big issue and I know licensing would be a ball ache but I wish the first TMNT game was on it (it's so iconic) and Battletoads. Little Samson would have been nice but well, that was never going to happen. In other news: Sonic Mania anyone? Looks pretty sweet. |
