RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - TomGuycott - 11-20-2014 (11-20-2014, 03:00 PM)Iceman404 Wrote:(11-20-2014, 11:35 AM)TomGuycott Wrote: I also could not in any way say that I would exchange any of the newcomers for Ridley. I've ended up liking all of them too much to sacrifice any. I actually like Dark Pit better on most levels than Pit. I like his Side Special's launch trajectory better, I like his voice and his alternate colors better, and I enjoy the short, simple Final Smash. As to whether I'd trade him for Ridley... yeah, I guess I would. Granted, Dark Pit pales in comparison to the development time they'd have needed for Ridley, so I know it's not an even exchange in a real scenario, but I would probably be willing to part with Dark Pit for the Rids. I disagree on changing Ganondorf though. Even back in the day of Ocarina of Time, he had elements of Falcondorf hidden in there. It was predestined: RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Iceman404 - 11-20-2014 The combined effort it took to make all the clones likely could have been used for Ridley (a biiiiiiit of a stretch). Don't forget DLC time is infinite either. This is mainly Sakurai being Sakurai and nothing else. I guess I'll just end my opinion off here. Clones, and the reason behind entirely, are quite literally quantity vs quality. A small puff of pointlessness that makes it look like there's more to the already enormous roster when there really isn't. They may make it seem like nothing goes into a clone, but in reality, a lot more does than you probably think, and for what real gain when that time could have been allocated to possibly better stuff? RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - recme - 11-20-2014 i personally like ganondorf the way he is. a slower, but powerful falcon. i mean, i really dont know how else ganondorf would be approached. giving him a sword would kinda make him a link/ike clone... RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Iceman404 - 11-20-2014 No, not if you base his moveset off of magic and Hyrule Warriors (dual wielding iirc). RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - TomGuycott - 11-20-2014 Hyrule Warriors Dorf actually has a huge moveset potential. Just reduce the range for most of the attacks (most of them hit almost the entire screen), and you've actually got a solid move pool. I bet Sakurai would be unable to wrap his head around the size of his swords though, and deem them "too big" to do "hocus pocus" for. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - AuraLancer - 11-20-2014 I remember people talking back in the prelease days of Brawl about the idea of moving Ganondorf's moves (properties of the moves too) to Black Shadow and making Ganondorf play like an actual Ganondorf. I still think it's a good idea. It gives Fzero another rep as well. Also, I have my suspicions that Wolf and Lucas were cut to give their moves to Fox/Falco and Ness. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Iceman404 - 11-20-2014 Project M had that idea as well, honestly it sounds like the best thing for an easy and much wanted F-Zero rep, and makes an insane amount of sense there since its based off Captain Falcon. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Koopaul - 11-20-2014 I'm not mad at the clones for being clones. I'm mad at them being clones for the Mario series, Kid Icarus, and Fire Emblem. Three series that already got cool new stuff. Why didn't Alph become a clone? Why didn't Paula become a Ness clone? Those are series that could have used clones! RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Kosheh - 11-20-2014 (11-20-2014, 05:01 PM)Kriven Wrote: I love clones. Give me a page full of clones, even if they're unbalanced. Peppy as a slow Falco clone who can jump ridiculously high I know you're making a point that you're okay with clones, but uh Falco is a Fox clone that's slower and can jump ridiculously high clones of clones, however, that would be something :V RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Kriven - 11-20-2014 Falco's melee attacks are different. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Iceman404 - 11-20-2014 Falco and Luigi have become too different from Fox and Mario to be considered full on clones anymore, as well as Ganondorf too (even if he doesn't play like everyone would want him too). They share a good deal of moves, but not enough anymore. They're just too different, its a game of contrasts for me. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Kriven - 11-20-2014 Oh, I'm not sure if this has been covered, but it looks like the Mewtwo DLC is going to be handled through Club Nintendo... So if you haven't created an account there, now's a good time to do it. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Kosheh - 11-20-2014 (11-20-2014, 08:52 PM)Kriven Wrote: Falco's melee attacks are different. Have you played Melee? Lol that's more what I had in mind with that comment but uh They have different properties, yes, but Falco's still a Fox clone. It's just less obvious. Circa Brawl, the animations sure are different enough, but give them a closer look and Fox and Falco are still pretty much similar enough to be "clones". They're not painfully obvious clones like Marth-Lucina, but more or less some general changes are made between the two characters enough to not be clones (with Lucina, it's lazy - the sword has consistent damage throughout, compared to the variations between Fox and Falco) The space animals in Brawl were no exception to this: Fox became a general rushdown character whose purpose was to get characters to high percentages before finishing them with a very limited number of Smash attacks. Falco ran slower, jumped higher, and had a better air game than Fox. Wolf was slower than both characters, had a lousy aerial game but an insane ground game. Their movesets were just modified enough to make them seem more varied than a straight up clone. Wolf's changes made it seem far less obvious, but Falco's basically unchanged from Brawl in this game moveset-wise. Okay whatever argh the point is that you made a one-off suggestion that Peppy be a clone of Falco and I found it humorous that you're suggesting a character be a clone of a character who originally existed as a clone of another. RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Iceman404 - 11-20-2014 I honestly cannot call Wolf a clone what so ever, he is radically different from Fox or Falco, only sharing some specials based on each other. It's like when people call Lucario a Mewtwo clone for sharing one iconic special attack fffffffffff RE: SUPER SM4SH BROS: WII U (Spoilers Warning) - Jermungandr - 11-21-2014 Honestly they're not even doing that. The only similarities between the attacks is that they're energy spheres thrown from the hands. But the behaviors on them are different, and Lucario's has a different output limit dependent on his damage. |
