RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Kriven - 01-05-2015 I like the stage bosses, myself. I do also miss the more traditional boss battles Brawl had. I was kind of hoping they would become one of the "Intermission" stages in Classic mode, but the mode didn't work out that way this time.... (How I wanted Classic Mode: 1v1 - 1vRaid - Break the Targets - 1v1 - 2v2 - 1vGiant - Race to the Finish - 1vGenericTeam - 1vMetal - Boss - Master Hand) RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - recme - 01-05-2015 i really hate it when you beat someone online a million times and then when they beat you once, they leave the room. talk about being a sore loser :\ RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Iceman404 - 01-05-2015 It makes up for it when you frustrate them so much they SD RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. There's something so satisfactory about absolutely wrecking somebody to the point where they rage quit immediately after winning once. Just remember the final win/lose count. RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Kriven - 01-05-2015 ^ Such a sadist. Sometimes I leave the room after finally beating a clearly more skilled opponent, but I'm not rage-quitting--I see it as having finally beat the boss, and now it's time to celebrate with ice cream. RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - recme - 01-05-2015 idk, it just shows bad sportsmanship when you just leave on a whim. i mean, if you beat your opponent once, then cant you do it again and again? maybe you just got lucky by beating your opponent once. it happens RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Kriven - 01-05-2015 I honestly feel like Nintendo's online systems are too casual to even consider sporting ethics. Aside from things like finishing a tournament. RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. Especially if there were already numerous matches that came before, like losing 10+ times, and then finally winning once. Maybe they just want a different opponent closer to their skill level, and just wanted to at least try winning one time before switching opponents. Especially if there's a chatroom and they say something along those lines. Perhaps they're just tired of the monotony...what's the point of playing more if they've already seen they lose numerous times against this opponent? This umbrella definitely doesn't shelter everyone, and I know I've respectfully left after defeating a person once, after I've lost several times successively to them on Puyo Puyo VS 2. There are other ways of being a sore loser. Disconnecting mid-match, for example. Or playing like they don't care anymore, and just doing a bunch of random and/or silly things like swatting at the air and whatnot. RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. If I was your opponent I'd say you don't deserve that icecream until you beat me as many times as I did you. :V Its not about one win, I find it. There's too little margin for error in for glory's silly 2 stocks. Its more about the win to win count. If I lose I make sure to go back and see if I can beat them a couple or more times in a row or something so they don't get the wrong impression either, because I know it angers people (even if they're anonymous and don't have means of communication). RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Koh - 01-06-2015 I doubt they'd feel like they're on top of the world after one win in a sea of losses. You have to give people more credit than that; I'm almost certain they'd just rather find a different opponent. Would you rather face someone where you can win or lose, or face someone you lose to constantly? It gets stale really fast when you know you can't win after several retries, and no one should be forced to subject theirself to more if they don't want to, just because the other person feels like it's a rage quit. I don't know why it angers people. Not everybody has the time to go through infinite bouts to prove themselves to an anonymous. If we happen to meet again online some other day, sure, I'll play you again. If not, oh well. If I'm playing chess with somebody and I continue to whip their butts time after time, I'm not going to get pissed off when they call it quits after finally besting me. Hell, I'll go get the ice cream for them. This whole "Keep playing me, don't leave after winning!" sounds a lot like ego to me. Like they stole some thunder for even that one match, and you have to absolutely reaffirm that the thunder is yours. RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Gwen - 01-06-2015 TIL that getting tired of losing to someone clearly better than you and settling for one win before switching opponents is being a poor sport. EDIT: I mean come on, if anything I think it makes one look like more of a poor sport that they're mad that they don't get somebody to essentially beat up continuously. It is being a poor sport. Staying until you get the last laugh is a truly lame way to compete. RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Gwen - 01-06-2015 Who says it's until you get the last laugh? Maybe you unexpectedly win, and you think "God damn, that's enough with that person, gonna end that on a high note." If the other person seriously gets offended, I'm thinking that they just need to pound on their chest more and don't get the chance to. Maybe they're tired and just want to go to bed, maybe they're hungry, maybe they need a cigarette break, etc. The point of the matter is, you don't know why they're leaving, and if it seriously bothers you that your punching bag is leaving on a personal high note, I think you're the one that's got something to get over. Maybe you unexpectedly win, and you think "God damn, that's enough with that person, gonna end that on a high note."You're taking the whole benefit of the doubt thing too seriously. All those possibilities you mentioned could have been accomplished at any point. If you weren't looking for the last laugh, you would have decently accepted that your opponent was superior to you, prior to your "unexpected win". Leaving after your last, single victory is all kinds of disrespectful to your competitor and reeks of a sore loser. Sure, they could be hungry, need a cigarette break, want go to bed, that definitely happens, but if you really wanted to do any of that so badly you would have already quit and done it, otherwise, you're just looking for the last haha. And I don't get offended by it. I've played with people online enough to just find it hilarious at this point, as I mentioned a few posts back, but it doesn't make it any less lame. |
