Wow, ask and you shall receive....

Insanius

Friend .... THANK YOU ...
I could try to rip, but never did so. I do I program the characters.
You fell from heaven (XD) ... even if you can't, since I appreciate your attention.
Well, there are 2 files: the game and an application to make it work on Windows XP (decompress the 2, and replace the application):

Lucky for you ...

The big elephant has only two frames?

RE: Sprite Ripping Project 4: 2-D Fighting Games - Garamonde - 04-29-2011

Yes. I'm not sure why but it does, and they pretty much only animate when one of the players win. As for the elephants in the background, the reason I included each side was because part of the wall was slightly different for both sides, surprisingly.

EDIT: ...Okay forget that, the sheet's fine, please upload. I seriously feel like I lost my brain just now because I spent all this time correcting something that didn't even need correcting.

RE: Sprite Ripping Project 4: 2-D Fighting Games - Insanius - 04-29-2011

Ok this is hilarious.

So the files are very simply palletized sprites in a generic container format. However, none of the files are named properly. None of the file extensions mean anything, pretty much every file is an image container. The header size even changes between files with the same extension Tongue
Sometimes you have most of the character sprites in one file, sometimes it's spread across 15 files. The palettes aren't even usually named after the files they go with. Half of them are in .pal files I guess, the rest are mysteriously scattered around. Some of them are even stored at the end of PCX images which are here and there, there's no easy way to attribute which palette goes where. I haven't even found a single matching palette/sprite set combination yet...

I was going to put more effort into this but the whole filename thing is just aggravating to the point that I don't want to deal with it. It'd be a nice project for someone who's really really bored to identify exactly what file contains what data.

Just so you guys know, I've started ripping Bad Mr. Frosty from the SNES Clayfighter. It's going pretty well, so hopefully no issues along the way.

Awesome! Can't wait!

I pretty much found the same thing, and I think that you and I both gave up for the same reason!

RE: Sprite Ripping Project 4: 2-D Fighting Games - A.J. Nitro - 04-30-2011

Here he is! If it matters, this is from the original not the Tournament edition, but I'm pretty sure they're the same game. The only things missing from this sheet are the snowy effects, the pieces when he is defeated and explodes and the grabbing/being grabbed poses. It's hard to get those without removing the character. Other than that, I should have everything.

And Ton, I think you should give Helga another shot. If you rip her like the way I did, you should be fine. All I did was use Helga's stage and not removing the background layer. I just ripped Frosty with the background behind each pose, and when I was done, I removed the background with the whole right clicking the background colors with the color picker tool then went on from there. No black background issues Big Grin

Awesome, nice one A.J.! BTW what happened to your Watchog icon?

EDIT: It's working now.

I dunno. Maybe it expired or something. I forget which site hosted it. I'll try to look for it again.

EDIT: Okay I found another one. It was the old imageshack that had the previous GIF of course. Now back to the project.

I'll see what I can do about helping you out with that tomorrow or so.

And also, unfortunately I'm not gonna rip Tron Bonne's sprites after all. Too much of a hassle to fix up the improperly-layered/broken PS2 rips. I blame the program that I used to extract them... Sick Never mind that, found a workaround which I showed in my next post.

Awesome job, AJ! Plans do do any other CF characters?
Aw, that's too bad, RTB. Oh well.

Blame the developers for the glitchiness of these sprites of this game.
