RE: Suggestions - Petie - 12-21-2014 So what you want is newest first, not oldest (which is the default). And no, it has nothing to do with it being compiled or against the terms of the license. I just refuse to make core modifications because it requires re-making them every single time we update the forum. I already have to do this for the SSO system we have but that's an important element of the site. RE: Suggestions - Tcll - 12-21-2014 oh I see, heh typical lazy programmers, like myself :af: lolol I feel ya, and yea, updating, I'd do the same thing. (or build a simple plugin system to copy/paste between updates) yell at the forum-software devs to add this next update and woops, yea, stupid autism confusing me >3< RE: Suggestions - Petie - 12-21-2014 You need to stop making assumptions. This isn't about being lazy either. This is abour core edits being risky because the break between updates, even with the ability to copy and paste between versions. It's about them being much more complex to perform than the outcome is worth. You are literally the only person I have ever seen ask for such a feature. I'm sure there are others out there but clearly not enough to get it included as part of the install so this isn't on the software developers either. There is simply no demand for it so it doesn't happen. RE: Suggestions - Tcll - 12-21-2014 that was a joke, don't hit me I was implying myself as the joke. just trying to have some fun while making a suggestion... EDIT: btw, I hate it when people talk about demand... just use logic and common-sense and try to implement what's best for your users (I'm not directing that at anyone in particular, don't take it as such) I don't follow those demand standards when developing... I just work on what I need to and release it when I can. this goes for all of my: - software - forum-plugins - content - whatever else I'm forgetting to mention all you have to do is suggest me an idea and I try to implement it in the easiest way possible, even if it means doing something complex to achieve that. heck just look at my main program for the perfect example "UMC" the final update to it is "UGE", a logical converting recompiler for games (DOL/REL <> EXE/DLL) I'm a good person ok, though I may come across as a noob, and sometimes an A. (I don't cuss so put that together) RE: Suggestions - Petie - 12-21-2014 Demand is critical on large-scale applications. When you're working on a personal project with a small audience, incorporating suggestions makes sense. When you're working on a massive scale, you can't waste time on frivolous things. That's why the MyBB teams don't include features that only one or two people ask for and also why I won't modify their software for one or two people. A lot goes into core modifications and the chance to break something far outweighs the potential of that new feature to be useful. This is the purpose of the suggestions thread. A suggestion is made, discussion is had about said suggestion, and then a decision is made as to whether or not to include it based on that discussion. In this case, there is no demand for your suggestion so it won't be added, especially since it requires core edits. Let's let this drop here and not derail this or the errors thread any further. RE: Suggestions - Tcll - 12-21-2014 bleh, I got it before Petie ok, stop pushing. I wasn't pushing or anything earlier alright I only made my suggestion and tried to have a little fun guessing why not. (completely harmless) what lead into this was me just joking around a bit, and you got me to state I hated demand standards. convo over ok, suggestion won't happen unless more people here want it. I understand demand standards... that's why I hate them. thanks for doing what you could EDIT: another suggestion a "Resources" Category with boards for particular areas. I could post HexEdit Pro 4.0 there with my templates for a few various nintendo formats RE: Suggestions - Shade - 12-21-2014 (12-21-2014, 12:28 PM)Tcll Wrote: oh I see, hehThis is extremely insulting for one thing, even if you intended it to be a joke. Petie does all kinds of things for this site in his own free time, he's by no means a lazy programmer at all. (12-21-2014, 02:49 PM)Tcll Wrote: EDIT:Obviously directed at Petie, and once again insulting. (12-21-2014, 05:56 PM)Tcll Wrote: bleh, I got it before Petie ok, stop pushing. He's giving you info, how in the hell is he being pushy? It's not completely harmless either. Basically accusing someone you don't know of being lazy because they won't implement something that isn't necessary is ridiculous. Also... (12-21-2014, 05:56 PM)Tcll Wrote: EDIT:So this? RE: Suggestions - Tcll - 12-21-2014 can we STOP looking at things NEGATIVELY PLEASE! I'm by NO MEANS a negative person, and I DON'T try to insult others. I appologize though at everyone who is offended. (just understand I don't mean things the way they look) 1: I wasn't pointing fingers, calling him lazy, he helps code a freakin forum, which I know how much work that takes, as I work on 2 forums. (one with all of my plugins (by Proboards), and the the other on my server (by ABXD)) to top that off, I work on many complex programs and am even designing my own programming language. and I'm calling myself lazy! _>o<_ (in reality, with as much work as I have, I don't have time for laziness, and I don't even get paid) 2: I wouldn't have said it's not directed at anyone if I directed that at someone. I'm not some low-life ok, I at least am truthful in what I say. >:/ all that is, is a statement to pass around for others who believe in the demand standards. 3: I didn't accuse anyone of being lazy, not sure how many times I've said that. it's just a side-statement to laugh at... so much for that and now you guys make me look bad. >_< I'm trying to be helpful and have fun, everything I'm saying is friendly, not insulting. as for the resources, I was talking on the level of software for those resource threads. EDIT: you guys seem to be judging me by my cover rather than getting to know why I said what I said if it still bothers you. like I said, I'm NOT a negative person. what I said was only a suggestion and that's it, and for the record I'm not bothered in the least it's not implemented... it's just a convenience feature that I was requesting, I never demanded it be implemented. I'm age 23 guys, you can look that up on my profile... I'm alot smarter than I look and carefully word everything I say so as to NOT offend. did you not notice the "lolol" at the end of my statement... IT WAS A JOKE! (nothing about that statement was anything meant to be harmful) RE: Suggestions - Dazz - 12-22-2014 Tcll, I'm going to suggest you stop posting. Just stop. Not a single post you've made has been either constructive, helpful, or even relevant in many cases. You can continue to inadvertently insult people, and then blame your illness on it, or you can just stop, and try to learn how it is you can implement yourself into this community without everyone trying to aim at you after you've begun painting a target on your back. I'm telling you this from a sympathetic point of view, and not a spiteful one. I think that you've going to only upset yourself more than you help yourself if you continue on the path you currently are. You sound like with time you might be a useful user to have around, but as it stands you seem to be struggling to grasp basic ethics of a forum and how to talk to people. While some of that may be relevant to your illness, you aren't the only person to suffer from a condition like this. And many other people here won't ever admit to it - they don't hide behind it. It instantly makes you a target, and you won't gain sympathy from it if you post about it constantly. Really consider what I'm saying for your own good. Thanks. RE: Suggestions - Struggleton! - 12-26-2014 Is it possible to link sounds via url when submitting them, or is that not possible? RE: Suggestions - Petie - 12-26-2014 It's not possible and won't be. We only allow URL-based submissions of images for the sake of stability. RE: Suggestions - Struggleton! - 12-27-2014 (12-26-2014, 11:49 PM)Petie Wrote: It's not possible and won't be. Thanks RE: Suggestions - Sevenstitch - 12-30-2014 do you think we could get some some of ban log thread? its always weird seeing a name of someone lined through when it wasnt just a few hours ago, and looking at their post history usually gives no context as to why they were banned in the first place. like a general thread that the mods could post ban info on recently banned members, even if it is as simple as alt accounts or underage user. I mean, I'm not asking for tell alls or anything, just a thread where I can read the X member was banned/suspended for Y reason. RE: Suggestions - Maxpphire - 12-30-2014 No. It would cause drama and bullshit. If you're really that curious then ask a staff member, and then it will be up to them on how public or private they will be about the situation. RE: Suggestions - daemoth - 12-30-2014 It would be nice if there was link to the ports & remake of a game, for example: if im on FinalFantasy6 on Snes page, there could be links to the Gba and Psx port and to the Mobile remake page. |
