RE: Luigi's Adventure: Divide and Conquer - RECKENEFIN - 03-19-2010 No, help would be giving me suggestions on how to fix it, instead of telling me to go back to the drawing board and come back so we can tell you the next idea stinks too. *deep breath* Sorry. I've taken your concerns with the story before my small team. My original idea was more copying instead of splitting, but there aren't many phrases dealing with copying, so it became "Divide" and "split." However, I see where you are coming from, and I'll try and address the concerns. And, something I forgot to respond to earlier, the worlds seem like "they've been done in every Mario game ever" because . . . well, they have. I was going for a Mario feel with the worlds, and those themes seem to work pretty well for Nintendo. Anyway, sorry for being a little stubborn. If there are any other glaring issues (besides graphics, splitting, world theme, and Dimentio's ressurrection) let me know, and I'll see what we can do. From where I see, you already got lots of good comments about what needs to be revised here and why. You just were too busy making excuses and fishing for good comments to notice it, that's all. And well, this is YOUR idea about YOUR game, so YOU must do all the work instead of fishing for people to work for you. (Otherwise, it wouldn't be your idea anymore.) Also, each and every Mario game produced by Nintendo is unique as far graphics, gameplay and story is concerned, so saying things like "It has been done" isn't really a valid excuse to justify unoriginality. After reading this thread again, and seeing how you can't sprite or write with coherence and originality, I can't help but feel like you are still not ready to try making games yet. RE: Luigi's Adventure: Divide and Conquer - triptych - 03-19-2010 maneko i love you RE: Luigi's Adventure: Divide and Conquer - RECKENEFIN - 03-19-2010 (03-19-2010, 01:01 PM)Maneko Wrote: From where I see, you already got lots of good comments about what needs to be revised here and why. OK. Here's what I got from the comments: 1. Luigi splitting in 3: noted and working on revising. 2. Story is boring and uninspired: what makes it boring and uninspired exactly? Honestly, I want to know. 3. Dimentio's return: addressed and explained. Fits the theme of the game the character comes from. 4. Graphics and maps: I've said it since the first post. rough draft. Working on this is partially why I'm here. 5. Different Bittages: If some people would help me with spriting, that wouldn't be an issue. And, as a side-note, Super Mario Bros Z (arguably one of the most popular Mario-themed sprite series) has different bittages out the wazoo, but nobody seems to complain about them. (don't say the story's good; we've been over that already) 5. Worlds: I know they're boring. They were just supposed to be temporary, but I got busy and neglected them. 6,7,8,9. Luigi has had other adventures: more of an FYI. Doesn't really help me with the adventure I'm trying to make. 10. Luigi is a terrible character: that's an opinion, not a criticism. I was explaining where I was coming from, and since those explanations were shot down, I've taken it back to the drawing board. Granted, I did kinda brush off the first post, but that was the first bad one I got. I thought it might be a fluke (no offense). After seeing more negative criticism, I have begun replanning. And I'm not trying to get people to do all the work for me. I'm only actively asking for some sprites. Everybody else on my team has pretty much come voluntarily. Did I say that the graphics, story, and gameplay were all the same? No, I said almost every Mario game has a forest, desert, ice, and haunted world. Story is being adressed, gameplay is an RPG, and graphics need work; I gathered that. I posted the story up partly for feedback, which I have received and am addressing. The other reason is because everywhere I've been, you need a concept before you can request sprites. And of course I can't sprite. I know that; I said it in the first post. If I could sprite, would I be in the Sprite Requests thread of the Spriter's Resource in the first place? With all due respect, I'm just trying to figure out how I can revise the story to make it better to get some help and it still remain my idea. I don't want you to make the game for me; I want you assistance so that my team and I can finish making the game. |
