RE: Community Discussion: tSR Competitions - Maneko - 02-23-2010

How about offering some kind of special privilegies given to the most productive members here?
Either for the members who submits the best sprite rips or for the members who create the most interesting sprites/pixel arts, but basically, rewarding people's hard work.

Sounds like a great idea. I was wondering what had happened with the badges, glad they might be brought back. I'd be up for a smash bros tournament.

Sprite your own made up Pokemon

Id support this, especially with HGSS coming up, and Gen 5 rearing its head.

To get more people to work on the CP, this rule should only apply to those who contribute to the CP Tongue. It would drive in alot more activity in there, so its not the same 10 people continuously posting each time. But thats just what I'd do.

RE: Community Discussion: tSR Competitions - [robo9] - 02-23-2010

What if they aren't interested in the CP?

An amazing spriter not get special privelage because they dont contribute to a project? The forum is on spriting not spriting a certain project.
I know there really isnt anyone other than NoBody, but still. I think it shouldnt ONLY apply to people that contribute to it.
Although yes it would get more activity

And let me ask: what kind of special privilege you guys have in mind?
What's the point for asking something if you have no idea what this "something" is? :p

RE: Community Discussion: tSR Competitions - Maneko - 02-24-2010

How about the privilegie of a being allowed to have a bigger signature or receiving a little FTP space for their particular use?
Basically, an actual reward to motivate more people to do things, instead of the generic "Nice!" or "Cool!" replies I've seen often here.

RE: Community Discussion: tSR Competitions - A.J. Nitro - 02-24-2010

We don't need bigger signatures. They just take up more space on a single page.

RE: Community Discussion: tSR Competitions - Locked Achievement - 02-24-2010

How about a reputation increase?

RE: Community Discussion: tSR Competitions - Maneko - 02-24-2010

Do you mean, increasing the member reputation in let's say, chunks of 10 units at once instead of just one?
It could work.

What would be the point? If you upped the units to 10 each then someone with 9 reputation would only have 90 while someone with say 43 would have 430 rep. The system we have now works fine so there's really no reason to change it.

RE: Community Discussion: tSR Competitions - Maneko - 02-24-2010

Noooo. I meant, instead of upping someone's rep by 1 as always, the guy gets 10 rep points at once. A guy with 9 rep ends up with 19, and the guy with 43 ends up with 53.
Where did I said something about multiplying it's current reputation by 10?

Just tossing ideas here, people.

I see what you're saying now, but I think the whole idea was that 1 rep = 1 person.

RE: Community Discussion: tSR Competitions - Adam - 02-24-2010

As of now, we've determined you will receive badges as an award for your effort. These badges are being made by the staff, and will accomodate to every competition we hold.

Badges are the next thing we need to discuss, actually.

There are going to be a ton of new badges released in the upcoming month or so, and they'll be awarded to several people off the bat.

For one, the Top Rippers will receive badges; along with the Top Custom Submitters. People who have helped with the forum will receive badges. Those who have gone without warns or have shown a good, friendly attitude will receive badges. Admins and moderators will also get them.

Once these have been handed out, the competitions will begin. Competitions will include these:

Spriting Competitions - these will be started by Tyvon and I, and will be moderated by mainly us. The system will probably be set up so that the winner of the previous competition will start the new competition.

Drawing Competitions - We've yet to determine rules and regulations for this, but I'll be PMing Epistaxis and Devicho, seeing if they'd be willing to offer their help.

Music Competitions - Music competitions will most likely be watched over by Gorsal. I'll be PMing him too.

Gaming Competitions - Gaming competitions will be led by Tyvon and bryan GT broyan, two excellent gamers who are well-versed in the subject. We'll be holding a poll to determine what the first game the members of tSR compete at, as well.

Game Development Competitions - These are a maybe. They'd be held over the course of a month, and you'd be required to make some sort of short game that fit limitations. These competitions would be watched over by Kaikimi and SengirDev, ideally.

Keep in mind that all these choices are in the air, and we'd like your opinion on rules, time limitations, and subjects. Thanks!

Okay, I'm in. (I can't really sprite or draw.)
