but be sure to give the boy a sword, so he can cut the puppets' stings C:

Like I said in the post above yours, I will have the sword, but I didn't want it to be in the way while showing the new design, and I'm planning on making a few items.

For example, you could cut the strings holding up a flying enemy with an arrow or throw a bomb into the mouth of a sock puppet.

RE: All the worlds a stage - Gors - 06-24-2010

yes, I know you said that, I just gave the string-cutting idea in case you weren't aware of it (though looks like you were Tongue)

RE: All the worlds a stage - Chaoxys - 06-24-2010

Ah, I see. Yeah, I've been trying to think of interesting gameplay mechanics like that. One of them is to be able to cut the strings of clouds and what not and use them to throw.

Another idea is to have an item that looks like one of those puppeteer things, you know, those things that look like a plus or whatever that you use to control the puppets, and you can use it to control some enemies under certain conditions.

*marionette?

this 'scenery is made of cardboard' thing reminds me of Dynamite Headdy, and I like it c:

Just some enemy designs including the purple guy (as in, I will probably redo them later).

Also, I have finally decided on the main character's main weapon. It will NOT be a sword (He will have one though). It shall be a marionette handle that he will use as a whip. He can also grab onto special hooks and swing from them.

Along with the handle, Fen (yeah, I'm keeping his name as Fen) will receive various items that can assist you in taking out certain foes faster, not to mention that they help solve puzzles. For example, the paper bird drawing thing (the bird is the only thing that will affect you) may fly too high to attack, but a bomb to the popsicle stick will snap it in two and send him to the ground.

These sprites make me think of Yoshi's story and M&L, great concept for the bird.

RE: All the worlds a stage - Baegal - 06-26-2010

that bird is awesome, you covered the crayon/colored pencil style amazingly. Like C2B said, that specific sprite reminds me of YS while the purple one reminds me of M&L
you should also make the bird have a really choppy animation, or make the lines be redrawn over and over like they do a lot of times for stuff like that in YS

RE: All the worlds a stage - Gors - 06-26-2010

I think that you should change that popsicle into a thinner stick. You need to give more attention to the bird than the stick, or else it'll be annoying in-game.

RE: All the worlds a stage - Chaoxys - 06-26-2010

Hmmm, yes, I agree about the stick, I'll make it thinner.
