RE: the poop happens world we live in thread 2XXX - Kriven - 08-29-2011 I suppose I could have told them to suck it up and burn in hell forever. Because that's just a lovely thing to say. Talking to Macho, not you. RE: the poop happens world we live in thread 2XXX - [robo9] - 08-29-2011 That was probably a bad way for me to say it. Here lately I've just felt as if all the reason Christianity is so prevalent is because of just blind faith alone. All I've found to back up Christianity is a religious doctrine, but that isn't really the most reliable or unbiased source. Also with the post I made earlier, it can't completely be too farfetched of a reasoning. To tell something is real, at one point you or someone has either used one of the five senses to identify it. Can you touch, smell, see, taste, or hear an actual unicorn? Sure there are stories saying they're real, but that doesn't mean it's completely true. Can you touch, smell, see, taste, or hear a God? Sure there are stories saying he's real, but that doesn't mean it's completely true. Those are basically the thoughts that has been keeping me up at night, and I wish someone could help me put my mind to rest. I've tried talking to my pastor, but all he has said was "the fact you're here is proof there is a god" and whenever I ask for complete and undoubtful facts, he just cracks open a bible. I honestly have no idea what to do. I probably overreacted with the finding new friends deal, because I know I have atleast two or three who wouldn't care. Granted I would lose the ones I've had since I was in pre-k, but still. Or if anything, I could keep my mouth shut about my religious views for two more years and it wouldn't matter. Tl;dr I'm just honestly a confused sixteen year old with religious convictions ATM. Ever read about saints? Or people with visions, might not be true, but might be. Its fine to be confused about religion, I'm a Catholic, and I'm pretty shitty about getting to church, especially since I'm in college and my mom doesn't wake me up anymore. But I feel with religion if you choose to follow it, do it on your own terms and thats the key to me. RE: the poop happens world we live in thread 2XXX - Vipershark - 08-29-2011 congratulations, you're using logic have you ever "felt" said god and by that, i mean like spiritually, i guess RE: the poop happens world we live in thread 2XXX - Kriven - 08-30-2011 (08-29-2011, 11:28 PM)Dark Castle Wrote: But I feel with religion if you choose to follow it, do it on your own terms and thats the key to me. That's kind of what he wants to do, and you're calling him a fuck for it. Can't see, touch, hear, smell, or taste a God. The only proof is a religious doctrine with questionable translations. And if I publicly denounce it, I'll be shunned from my circle of friends. you're treating it as his whole argument but to me it seems like just a short expression; he didn't come here to try to convert everyone to atheism hes just trying to come to terms with his own faith or lack of. if im wrong about what robo meant im sorry but right now it seems like you're being the fuck, dark castle. RE: the poop happens world we live in thread 2XXX - tsr moderation staff - 08-30-2011 yeah, you can't really prove or support a god scientifically, aside from speculation about the birth of the universe. belief in christianity is basically just hoping that there is a god and that he gives a fuck about us. RE: the poop happens world we live in thread 2XXX - Lemonray - 08-30-2011 Here's the thing, if god is real then it's certian that he hates the human race. Think about it. He sent us Hitler and disease and everything. RE: the poop happens world we live in thread 2XXX - Kriven - 08-30-2011 Puritanical beliefs stated that God hated every single one of us, so at least some subsets of Christianity acknoweldge that God, does in fact, hate the human race. Dark Castle: You were calling him a fuck because of the five senses + no god comment. If discovering God via the five senses is his own terms, then clearly I know what I'm saying, knew what you were saying, and responded in a way that makes sense. RE: the poop happens world we live in thread 2XXX - Devicho - 08-30-2011 I can't believe I'm having to argue with a person why child porn is a terrible, terrible thing. No, the fact that at least they aren't being murdered does not make it okay at all. RE: the poop happens world we live in thread 2XXX - PrettyNier - 08-30-2011 Quote:Also I'd just like to say, you kind of sound like a fuck, OH I CAN'T TASTE OR HEAR OR SMELL GOD, NOT REAL. :Lhis point is completely valid in that he is addressing the fundamental reason for why someone would believe in God in the first place. its not just about OH I CANT TOUCH GOD its about every possible means we have of applying any kind of actuality to God, of determining whether or not there was actually a good reason to believe in God in the first place. And if it comes to be that no reason can be found, then the belief should be abandoned; any belief that cannot be justified and continues to be held is irrational. RE: the poop happens world we live in thread 2XXX - Maxpphire - 08-30-2011 I've been up for almost 24 hours, completely by accident. Wake up at 6am, didn't nap before work, worked from 5pm-30am Oh welp, and I'm still wound up from work so I am not even tired yet. I met one a few months back, he was pig disgusting to say the least. |
