RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - Maxpphire - 12-31-2014 I actually really like Fi by the end of Skyward sword. She actually develops some character, unlike Navi who is just as annoying at times. RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - E-Man - 12-31-2014 Navi really shows that she's one of Nintendo's first attempts at a persistent guiding character. While she is a bit useful when guiding first time players and she is cute, the other negative trait about Navi is her bland personality. Thankfully, Nintendo improved the fairy companion system when they introduced Tatl, whom I like a whole lot better than Navi due to how clever her dialog is. RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - Kriven - 12-31-2014 Honestly, Midna and Tetra/King of Red Lions were more annoying as guides (not as characters... They're awesome as characters) than Navi ever was. I actually really like Navi. RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - Gwen - 12-31-2014 Just going to say I completely disagree with you on that matter Kriven... RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - Shade - 12-31-2014 Yeah, I gotta disagree there, too. By the end of Ocarina of Time, I was completely sick of Navi. Navi became pretty useless and more of an annoyance as the game progressed. I've always liked Midna and KoRL quite a bit more, although I still consider Navi an important Zelda character. RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - Kriven - 12-31-2014 I think I like Navi more, and associate her more with a friendly character, because she was present throughout the whole adventure. With the other helpers, they're relegated to being unseen until spoken to, either in your sword, or your shadow, or some kind of pendant (the only exception to this being Midna riding on your back, but that's only for a portion of the game). Navi and Tatl are buzzing around you the entire duration of the game, even when they aren't calling you to check something out. They're right there in the battle, zipping over to the baddies, changing colors to indicate new items. Navi is the Tails to Link's Sonic (circa Sonic 2). I still don't think Navi is as likeable as the other helpers. RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - Paladin - 12-31-2014 There are problems with using the companions as excuses for the lock-on, though. It makes the game more immersive, but it slows down the targeting because the fairy has to reach the enemy before locking on. In Majora, you couldn't lock on to the twin worms because Tatl didn't grow along with Link when using the giant's mask. The systems in The Wind Waker And Twilight Princess have been much more precise. Also, I don't really like Navi. She doesn't pop up too much, but she can be annoying to experienced players. She's also about as interesting as the boat (having no personality), and both Tatl and Midna get more development, plus Midna has more utility. RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - Maxpphire - 12-31-2014 For me, Navi has no persoanlity, Twilight Princess was just really boring of a LoZ game and Midna's character wasn't too rememberable beyond the whole bitchy bossy type, King of Red Lions wasn't even with you for the whole Adventure and was really more of a Tour Guide to the world which I actually liked that about him, and Fi, while annoying as Navi was at times, she actually developed a personality. She went from a more cold and uncaring demenor, to actually being thankful that she was able to experience the journey with you and you experience her change throughout the entire journey, and it's just really great. So there you go, I really like KoRL and Fi, best LoZ guides all year erry year. RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - Mystie - 01-01-2015 I'm gonna be honest, I like Midna much more than Fi, merely because Midna wasn't incredibly annoying like Fi, and didn't treat the player like an idiot. RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - Koh - 01-01-2015 Y'all are all wrong! Best companion right heeyah~ RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - Maxpphire - 01-02-2015 Honestly I keep forgetting about Ezlo despite Minish Cap being the first and only GBA game I ever physically owned, but he was kinda a dick in Minish Cap, I like him in Highrule better tbh. RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - Gwen - 01-02-2015 TIME.TO.MAKE.THE.SHIT. RE: The Legend of Zelda U - Epona has tree support! - E-Man - 01-03-2015 Ezlo might be rough around the edges, but he's pretty original as far as partners go (How often do you have a Minish sage taking the form of a hat as I guide?). Also, in addition to his witty dialog, he's actually very useful in this game by not only allowing you to shrink, but also giving you a glide function similar to the Deku Leaf or the Sail Cloth. The only thing that would make him even better is if he was voiced by Gilbert Gottfried! |
