How do you guys feel about a new spriting competition? - SKELTON S. SKELETON - 08-05-2012

A LONG TIME AGO, IN A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY,

TSR was a pretty beautiful place filled with awesome crazy people. We used to do a weekly spriting competition that would have a new theme picked by the winner of the previous round every week. It was a great way of getting everyone out of their comfort zones. I just want to know, who's up for it?

Who knows what happened to Tugs.(Though mighty started a copersation in the question zone, and it was similar to this)

This wasn't something like Tugs. It wasn't a masterful clusterfuck with a ton of judges and we all tried to work around eachothers schedules. This was if you weren't around a week for a specific theme, fuck you, you aren't special. If someone is around only to set the theme, but not participate, I could always return and judge, or have someone available and judge.

Also, I really don't like your signature. You could benefit from making it more subtly ironic, like this gif of puppies and cats.

Well, I asked about TUGS, but that was mostly for the purpose of getting a reason as to why we didn't have one more than trying to get someone to start it (and thinking about it now, I really should have posted it in this forum).
I think for times when we don't have TUGS, we need to make up fun and interesting spriting activities on our own (Giant Pixel for example was a step in the right direction as it got people to sprite who haven't done so in ages) so yes I like this idea.

Is that a cat doing a faceplant into a japanese box? Tongue

I think it's more viable than TUGS given the fact that if the turnout fizzles out in one week, it could pick up in the next week. Either way I'd be interested in trying, whichever way this goes.

... PixelJoint? :B

Kidding! I'm all for this, and the arguments you put forward are pretty egalitarian and reasonable.

I seem to remember Shawn trying to start this kind of activity up again but it kind of died rather quickly. You may have to find a way of keeping these events going all year long, to hopefully attract some talented new members and boost activity in this part of the forums!
