Is Capcom planning on letting the PC port of Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle slowly die? - ZetTheLegendaryHero - 09-30-2018 So, Capcom released the Capcom Beat 'em Bundle on Nintendo Switch; Xbox; and PlayStation, but the PC version is still being delayed until a still unspecified date. I've heard they've might have done this to add some last minute DRM to the compilation, that's fine with me, but it's been 12 days since Capcom released the collection on all the other platforms, and Capcom still hasn't even given a revised release date for the Steam version. I know I might be jumping the gun here, but does it seem like Capcom is going to let PC version slowly die, and then either announce the cancellation of the port after most people have long forgotten it or never officially announce the port was cancelled. RE: Is Capcom planning on letting the PC port of Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle slowly die? - JewyB - 10-01-2018 I think you are very much jumping the gun, 12 days isn't a huge window and some PC versions of games can take months to be released after console versions. I definitely dont think it cant hurt to wait a bit longer! RE: Is Capcom planning on letting the PC port of Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle slowly die? - JewyB - 10-01-2018 I think a lot of companies nowadays would rather wait before announcing a release date until they are damn certain, as backlash can be devastating if they keep pushing back dates or announce a date then miss it. They probably want to be a bit more set on a specific deadline before announcing anything. Porting can be difficult for a lot of things, so they may have some hoops to jump through they weren't expecting and want to avoid more fan disappointment. I'm not sure, this is all hypothetical, but i just feel that it doesn't mean the game is cancelled or forgotten about yet EDIT: I will also add, pc versions of games are usually more mod-friendly etc, so they may be adding some features that are more pc-specific to the steam version RE: Is Capcom planning on letting the PC port of Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle slowly die? - ZetTheLegendaryHero - 10-01-2018 (10-01-2018, 04:19 PM)JewyB Wrote: I think a lot of companies nowadays would rather wait before announcing a release date until they are damn certain, as backlash can be devastating if they keep pushing back dates or announce a date then miss it. That would make sense considering they had to correct the fact that the PC version of the collection would be released at a later date, literally the day after the announcement. Also, I imagine that they actually worked on all the version before the announcement (considering how close the announcement was to the launch). By the way, do you mind if I ask a few additional questions. First, what do you think of Capcom releasing all these arcade perfect ports (I mean you got the Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle, the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, and Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara [if you count the Steam version {which is still being sold}]). Second, do you think that the Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle is a good compilation of Capcom Beat 'em Ups (at least the non-licensed ones). Finally, why do people complain about the fact that the collection doesn't include the licensed Capcom Beat 'em Ups when (1) that would make it more expensive (2) the companies might not let Capcom re-release these games (either at all or in within practical/reasonable way/cost) and (3) Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara was released in Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (which is still being sold on Steam). RE: Is Capcom planning on letting the PC port of Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle slowly die? - JewyB - 10-01-2018 Well, i'm not really a huge gamer these days and i cant speak for other people, but i think most of it can be summed up by one thing. Capcom is a company who want to make money. They know that by releasing older classics people loved with new features, they can put in less work hours and production costs and make more profits from that, and by adding in unreleased games and features, they can add a huge draw. Its one of the reasons megaman seems to get a new collection every year, people love Megaman and capcom love money! Also, them getting the rights to licensed games would be of a higher cost to them, cutting down their profits, unless, like you say, they charged more. People will still complain however, because people like having more content, or their favourite content, or jsut generally more, it depends entirely on the person. I, personally am indifferent to it, but after a quick google it was cool to see Captain Commando on the list, as i loved that game when i was younger. I think, if you havent played the games, and the price is affordable to you and you have the interest, it'll definitely be worth the buy, especially if the new features appeal to you. |
