XC2 formats for XCDE - Sir Teatei Moonlight - 05-24-2020 Xenoblade Chronicles DE isn't out yet, but it's close enough that I'd like to start getting a handle on the kind of things that'll be necessary to rip from it. Assuming that it'll have mostly the same file formats as XC2 (this is a rather safe assumption in my opinion), I've been looking around for XC2-based information. But so far I've only been able to find prebuilt tools that create 3DS Max output, and no actual documentation on the formats themselves. And maybe it's just me, but I'd rather not just assume that the same XC2 people are going to come back and update their tools for XC1DE (which again doesn't help me because I use Blender). So I come to see if anyone has some knowledge on XC2 formats that I can use to lay some groundwork that I can check once XC1DE is out. Mostly the model formats, which I hear are a combo of .arc/.wimdo/.wismt files that are all added together somehow. RE: XC2 formats for XCDE - Sir Teatei Moonlight - 05-30-2020 Partial update: Tried some XC2 tools on XC1DE files. Kinda-sorta works. Textures are causing problems, apparently there's a new format that the tools don't understand and thus don't complete successfully, I can import models into Blender but only get one of the several meshes. RE: XC2 formats for XCDE - Sir Teatei Moonlight - 06-07-2020 Update 2: By tweaking the source code of some stuff I can get full models into Blender, including all the face shapes. But the textures come out as .dds files that online to-png converters say are corrupt, so I must be doing something wrong. They also don't seem to be rigged (though this might just be me not using the right tools). They appear to also have rigs for the models as well. https://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=20619&p=163491&hilit=Xenoblade#p163491 Hope that helps RE: XC2 formats for XCDE - Sir Teatei Moonlight - 06-08-2020 (06-07-2020, 10:27 PM)JonathanJoestar Wrote: On the xentax forms someone extracted the textures saying it was the BC7 format. I am making good progress on my own path though. RE: XC2 formats for XCDE - Sir Teatei Moonlight - 06-09-2020 Things are going about as well as could be hoped for. The last known major technical hurdle is bone rolls (the middleman import/export format doesn't save them), but that can be partially dodged because the skeletions are mostly unchanged from the Wii ones that I already have. Once you have that, the playable character models are in chr/pc, and composed of three files: a .chr per character, and a .wismt and .wimdo per armour piece. RE: XC2 formats for XCDE - Sir Teatei Moonlight - 06-13-2020 Alright I think I got the basics down pretty good. Time to start readying for uploads. Are you by any chance going to release the blender tool? RE: XC2 formats for XCDE - darkwingcraft - 06-14-2020 Those are great news, i'm looking forward to see the models RE: XC2 formats for XCDE - Sir Teatei Moonlight - 06-15-2020 (06-14-2020, 09:26 PM)JonathanJoestar Wrote: Are you by any chance going to release the blender tool?Well I'm still finding problems as I progress so not yet. Once it's more stable, I'd like to, but I'd also have to figure out the best way to do so (since it's mostly edits to other peoples' tools rather than new ones). If you created a download link on mega or some other file sharing site I could try and chip in something. I have some blender experience and tools but not much in terms of programming. RE: XC2 formats for XCDE - darkwingcraft - 06-25-2020 Sorry to pester, i just like to see the progress you guys put up, so any news? |
