It wasn't exactly fitting, but I didn't think it was bad, per se. lol

anyway, I thought the grass effects were good (although annoying) and if they had been shaded etc I think they would have looked really cool in another game
but that's just me

hopefully this is the kind of response mechabowser was trying to get B)
No it is not. I was hoping you would actually beat the game. It's incredibly short and you need to get it all to get... it... all.

and yeah it's made in MMF2.

Well that's the problem with poor graphics, if you make it unnecessarily poor people won't know what to do. I saw the arrow on the goombas in the final boss and thought "Ok, maybe I'm supposed to bounce off a goomba and hit Bowser" since for a split second he got an arrow too. When that turned out to be wrong and I kept dying particularly at the spiraling flame bit because you can't actually tell where the fire IS and it moves that much faster than you, it was harder than it ought to have been.

So really, it's ok to go for intentionally bad sometimes, but you should make sure it doesn't get in the way of gameplay. Because if you're trying to tell a story, and it's frustratingly hard in some parts, we'll decide that whatever story you're trying to tell isn't worth our time being wasted as such. Really, it's trying to be bad, and it's succeeding beyond your expectations, gratz.

I never said it's intentionally poor. I don't believe it is, but that is just your opinion. Only the graphics are what you can refer to as 'poor', but you're talking about the actual game - that's entirely different. And yes, you are supposed to bounce off the Goomba into Bowser, and no, you don't return to the start of the level when you die after reaching Bowser. Are we talking about the same game?

Yes, it reset me at the beginning of the level. That's the reason I stopped playing, because it seemed to be reaching a point. Though a lot of those empty hallways spaces were pointless.

intentional atmospheric effect

edit: and as said, it doesn't reset you to the start of the level once you reach Bowser. So if you say it did, then you're making stuff up.

Right, because glitches don't happen. Whatever, be pig-headed. Typical MFGG member.

it doesn't happen because I programmed it that way. When Bowser is activated, so is a trigger that moves the spawn from the start of the level to the end near Bowser. It's impossible for you to spawn by the start again, and it's impossible for Bowser to be activated without this happening.

I won't go into details about how you're lying, because that's not my intention with this topic at all. I want people to play, finish, and enjoy the game :3

That's the thing - as the graphics were poor, and the leveldesign intentionally aggravating, it has a negative effect on the gameplay in general. The flames are especially annoying, because the hitbox is very unclear - and because Luigi isn't particularly maneuverable - the fight with Bowser progressed past 'parody of bad' and reached 'annoying & not fun'.

If that was intentional, then you might want to reasses what you think is good games design.

Please don't say "YOU WON'T APPRECIATE IT UNLESS YOU BEAT THE GAME" again please. If the game isn't fun, why would I have the motivation to beat it? Not to mention the ending is probably an anti-climax after all this...

bringing up a suggestion for a solution instead of constantly stating the problem would be much more appreciated

Whatever, because your code is flawless. Never mind that I just ran through this again and the SAME THING happened, and got to bowser a second time, and got his by his stupid fireball, and guess what? I had to jump through that stupid hoop of fire again.

Like the fact it uses 50 megs of ram. Oh, and maybe you should finish up the controls and explain the rest of them, like how to quit the program without having to resort to control+alt+delete.

My solution? Fix the issues being brought up. Like improve the graphics to make them more clear even a bit, and maybe actually make it so you DON'T have to re-do level 4 over and over again (oh wait, that was never a problem, my code is flawless).

it is common sense to use alt + f4. But you're right, I should have made the escape key an alternative for closing the game.

50 megabytes of ram is hardly anything for a game. Other games, probably more expensive games but nonetheless, require up to 500mb~2gb ram. Some of those are 2d, too. If you don't have 50mb of ram to spare, then did you look at Firefox? 100.000kb ram woo

but yeah the 'glitch' is non-existing. I don't even want to go into details about it, because it doesn't exist. If you could record a video of it in action then I would love to see it, though.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realise you were the kind of person that needed everything spelled out for you.

- Make Luigi's jump more fluid with better response to momentum. The max. height could do with tweaking, too. The sprites can stay as is.
- Establish a button that quits the program. Esc would be the most obvious.
- Make the part of the flames that damage you a non-translucent sprite, so you can TELL what hurts you and what doesn't.
- Don't be so up your own ass that whenever someone says something about your games you automatically call them wrong.
- Parody games have a habit of being amazingly pretentious or otherwise hard to enjoy if it's not amazingly fun or satisfying in the first place.

Give me a video capture program that works with fullscreen programs, and I'll happily show you the glitch.

Further-fucking-more. A game of THIS QUALITY shouldn't need 50 megs of ram to run.

How is it possible to fix something if you don't point it out directly? All I hear are rants about me as a person, not the game.

I'm not exactly sure what this means. The movements are pretty simple. Although if you're saying that his jump height should increase with higher horizontal speed, then that's a bit of a problem since Luigi is almost constantly in his horizontal maximum speed when moving.

Yes, I agree.

Would love to, but it'd ruin the general feel of the game I have going. I'll think of something inbetween.

This I find incredibly offending, especially considering its from a moderator who is supposed to show the good of a forum. If he had stated that, prehaps, the Goombas could float at specific spots then I'd listen to that, but a 'glitch' I know very well is impossible... is impossible.

This isn't a parody game.

does it honestly matter to you. Even with half a gigabyte ram it isn't even noticeable. Swearing makes you cool.

So then, you're not going to even LISTEN to genuine complaints? Forget it kid, even if I show you the glitch, you'll probably say I did I faked it rather than admit you fucked up somewhere. This has finally reached the point of ridiculousness that isn't even worth my time.
