Assist Trophies and Pokemon
#1
Seeing as nobody else has made a thread about this, I thought I'd go ahead and do it.

This thread is for posting sprites Assist Trophies and non-playable Pokemon as well as for suggesting new ones. Suggestions for Pokemon or Assist Trophies that should be retired are also acceptable. Make sure to give a description of what the character should do too when you suggest them because nobody will know what poses to sprite if you don't.

If you ever played Brawl it should be obvious that the Assist Trophies don't have to be from a playable character's game game so don't worry about that. However seeing as the rest of the project isn't using characters from other consoles or characters from movies and TV shows the same rule shall apply here. Ex. No characters like Naruto, Sephiroth, or Master Chief.

Assist Trophy Suggestions:

Adeleine (Kirby)- When she appears she either paints a boss (like ice dragon or sweet stuff) which you can then attack until it dies, or she can paint 3-4 enemies that can be killed in one hit or so. When you defeat all her paintings she dissapears.

Banzai Bill (Mario)- Moves across the screen towards the side of the stage with the most enemy players at about Bowser's dash speed while slightly above the ground. He damages anyone he runs into a decent amount and passes through small obstacles unless he hits a wall. If this happens, he will make a large explosion like he does in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Blaze the Cat (Sonic)- She's one of those fight along side you ATs. She can spin in a fiery tornado and slash at opponents. Her finishing moves include a fiery uppercut

Captain Rainbow - He skips around the stage whacking people with his yo-yo and shooting people with rainbows.

Chef Kawaski (Kirby)- He throws plates around that do a small amount of damage and knockback. Then he grabs a character with his ladle and cooks them. While they are being cooked they take damage, and when Kawaski has finished cooking them, they are sent flying.

Chibi-Robo (Chibi-Robo) - He will pick up items on the stage in attempt to "clean". He will then either bring them to the summoner, or throw them at foes.

Chief Chilly (Mario)- Runs around and freezes anyone he touches like Freezy except the frozen player isn't launched into the air.

Chu-Chus and Kapu-Kapu (Chu Chu Rocket)- The cat(Kapu-Kapu) chases the mice(Chu-Chus) around the stage and turn around at edges and walls. The cat damages players if it hits them, but goes after only the mice. Players can grab the mice and throw them and when they land they run in the direction thrown without doing any damage if they hit another player although the cat will turn toward the side with the majority of the mice. The assist trophy ends after either a Chu-Chu Rocket appears and the mice go into it and leave while the cat disappears or when all of the mice have been knocked off the stage by players, hazards, or explosions (the cat isn't harmed by these) in which case the cat will also disappear.

Cranky Kong (Donkey Kong)- He appears in his scientist persona from DK64 and throws potions at your opponents
Dry Bones- Tons of Dry Bones flood onto the stage and rush off the side, attempting to take anyone they can with them as seen in PM2 (The dry bones would be in a PM esque style). They don't hurt you.

Count Bleck - He snaps his fingers which spawns a small void somewhere on the stage. It will suck in items and pull any characters on the screen towards it (you can easily fight it by running away, but if you jump, you will get pulled towards it fast). Anyone sucked in will take a good amount of damage and get knocked flying.

Cutman (Megaman)- Lobs his scissors that go in a boomerang shape, but instead of returning to him, they keep going, turn around, fly past him, turn around, etc.

Dark Matter (Kirby)- He floats around the stage shooting yellow blobs and a black and red beam. The yellow blobs home in and characters, and the beam follows them.
The blobs cause small damage and knockback, and the beam gets multiple small hits (Like Lucas's Up special). Also, touching Dark Matter while he is attacking will cause damage and knockback.

Dark Samus (Metroid) -

Dig-Dug - hits opponents with his pump and tries to pump them up four times. The first three pumps do 5% damage, and the fourth pump does 15% and has some knockback. The player can break free by randomly tapping buttons and stuff. The player doesn't really inflate.

Din (Zelda)- Spins causing a tornado of ice, water, fire, or wind to appear around her. Wind has most knockback and reach, but does no damage. There's also a small suction affect for any players nearby.

Doc Luis (Punchout)- Doc appears appears next to who summoned him. He Eats His Chocolate Bar, Rip's off his Jacket, showing him wearing his cheetah Shirt.
He's at Ganondorf's Speed. Very Powerful. He'll throw some punches and move around for a while AND THEN WHAM-O! Star Punch'd into oblivion.
His Moves and looks could based off of here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIK-CsdPFjk

Doshin (Doshin the Giant) - Stands in the BG and throws monuments onto the stage that crumble away after a bit.

Eggplant Wizard (Kid Icarus)- Shoots 3 eggplants. If they make contact with another player, that player is transformed into an eggplant (with legs) for 10-15 seconds. While an eggplant, the character can only jump. No A, B, or grab attacks can be done.

Elite Beat Agents - The EBA appear in the middle of the stage and start dancing. The song on the current stage turns to a song from Elite Beat Agents and the Hit and Phrase Markers appear on the screen as if you were playing Elite Beat Agents. If an opponent hits a hit marker or gets caught in a phrase marker, it deals damage and does a small amount of knock-back.

Emerl (Sonic)- He copies a few special attacks (B moves) from the character that summoned him and attacks opposing players with them.

Farore (Zelda)- Appears and stand around for a few seconds, then uses Farore's Wind to switch everyone's position when it's least expected.

Fawful (Mario)- When he comes out of the trophy, he laughs and flies directly up out of the screen (he'll be looking at the sky)
then, he'll descend into the center of the screen, and laugh while his hat is spitting out poison gas.

Guerdo Guard from OoT: She charges and hits opponents with her spear, like the way little mac is in brawl.

Jimmy T - He starts dancing while a disco balls appears. Then a thought bubble appears over his head with one of your opponents and he'll point at him/her while the disco ball shoots a laser at him/her.

Jolene/Lineback - Jolene will start to chase him while she swings her sword. Linebeck will run away, pushing anyone close enough down to slow Jolene down. They will run about for a while and at the end, Jolene will do a finishing dash, poke Linebeck in the butt sending him flying comically off stage, thus ending the AT.

Kamek (Mario)- He flies around the stage and uses his magic to curse your opponents (ex. slows them down or puts those flowers on their heads)

Kracko (Kirby) - Flies back and forth on the top of the screen shooting down lightning bolts at the players

Lip - Lip from Panel de Pon appears and does one of two things, she either attaches a flower to the top of your opponents heads which slowly drain damage, or she drops panels from the sky which could land on opponents or even you.

Mallow (Mario)- Summons the giant Snowman to squash everyone.

Midna (Zelda) - Floats about with a dim field around her. Anything that touches the field will be caught with her "hand", thrashed about, then flung. (Or just use her giant spider form, but that may be harder to sprite).

Miyamoto - He appears and summons up a Mario pipe which then proceeds to spew out various 8-bit NES objects.

Muddy the Mole - Muddy the Mole is from the underrated Mole Mania for the GBC, made by Miyamoto himself. Muddy pops out and starts hurling and kicking bombs about the stage. Get hit and you take some serious damage.

Nayru (Zelda)- Plays the harp of ages and stops time completely for 10 seconds leaving the owner free to attack other players. Any player damaged during this time will go back to the state they were in before being frozen.

Pacman - He comes out of the case and immediately starts waka-waka-ing through the stage, doing 5 damage a chomp to anyone he hits, and in the last, oh say 5 seconds he's there, he starts glowing, gets bigger, and moves faster, which at that point he does 14-16 damage a hit. He moves like a hothead, except he can change directions, and the knockback of his attack is similar to a Piplup or a fan. You can attack him when he is normal, and if you get his health down enough -he has a hidden health bar, just like magikarp- he'll do the classic imploding looking death he did in the first pacman. But, in the last 5 seconds, he is invincible.
[Image: Pacman33124.PNG][Image: pac.png]

Phantom (Zelda) - Summons a very slow Phantom. It will walk around (sloooowly) and attack anyone it sees (including the summoner) resulting in an instant kill (unless something blocks them). This AT would most likely be incredibly rare as it is powerful, but dangerous for even the summoner. (not like it'd be hard to outrun though).

Poochy (Yoshi)- 1. Poochy comes out of a Trophy. He chooses an item on the field at random and runs to it. If no items are on the stage at the time, the trophy should also spawn a smoke bomb or something basic.
2. Poochy sniffs at the item. If the item is not picked up, Poochy will disappear after a few moments.
3. If the item is picked up, Poochy will follow the player, doing damage to people in his way.
4. If the item is thrown, Poochy will dash after it, hurting players in his way with more knockback. (Should be funny with Red Shells, if included.)
5. If possible, Poochy will retrieve the object and return to the player who threw it. (Should be funny with Bob-Ombs.)
Players can also stand on his back like a platform should they be able to land on it.

Popple the shadow thief - He will team up with the summoner to pull off his own Bro. Moves. How will this work you ask? The summoner will grab Popple (like he would any other character, then throw them, the throw you pick will decide the attack.

Throws
^- Popple goes up into the air and comes crashing back down, sending off a small shock wave on on both sides of him.
<>- Tosses Popple forward (or backwards) who then rolls past people, stealing any items they may have.
v- Slams Popple into the ground, thus flattening him, after a while he will spring up, launching anyone too close to him up into the air (it carries the effect of them using an ^B, so they can't attack.

Prince Sable (Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru) - He can transform into the frog or the snake. As the frog he is completely harmless, as the snake he is very deadly

Professor Egadd (Mario)- When you unleash him, he has the poltergust 3000 then all these ghosts appear, and Egadd sucks them up, but if your in the way, he sucks you in, and you get damage, then it spits you out.

Protoman (Megaman)- Protoman comes out of the assist trophy and starts moving from the left to the right and back to the left of the stage, while Protoman is on the left half of the stage he just runs but once he enters the right half of the stage he starts jumping and shooting his proto buster. After about 3 times of moving from the left to the right of the stage and going back again he dissapears.

Rambi (Donkey Kong) - Follows summoner around and rams anyone who gets to close (idk)

Rawk Hawk (Mario)- Runs about attacking enemies.

Rosalina and Luma (Mario) - Summons bit comets to the stage. After they hit the ground they shatter into 3 star bits that can heal anyone who eats them.

Shinobu - She uses her sonic sword ability.

Skull kid (Zelda) - Skullkid- Makes the moon fall. THe moon itself won't hurt you, it's the impact with the main stage that will. The other players will actually have to team up and "push" the moon back with attacks (I think it would be cool to force the players to work together to survive.

Squawks (Donkey Kong) - Stage goes dark and squawks flies around with a light making it hard to safely navigate the stage (neutral AT, doesn't help or hurt anyone intentionaly)

Squeakers- A group of Squeakers come out and jump around, doing a small amount of damage to anyone they hit. Just before they go away, a blue one throws a large bomb that explodes on impact. The explosion causes high knockback.

Takamaru (Nazo no Murasamejō) - Replaces Samurai Goroh. Basically just runs up slicing at people.

Whacka (Mario)- If you hit him enough, he will drop whack bumps which heal you by 50
[Image: whacka.png]

Zero (Megaman)- He uses his "Dark Hold" attack from Tatsunoko vs Capcom. He slahes the opponent into the air and surrounds them inside a dark bubble and the character becomes all black (like a silhouette) then his Z-Saber enlarges and forms into Megaman Zeros Blade he hovers on the ground a bit then slashes the opponent in the bubble again. The assist would be hard to get and it would do have high knockback (Pending on the opponents damage). After this he turns away and disappears in a beam of light.

Mechanics suggestions:

Assist trophies and Pokemon have hitpoints and can be destroyed with enough damage. Hitpoints should vary from character to character. Magikarp should be the only real exception in that instead of immediately dieing, he turns into Gyrados. Once evolved though, he should be able to be killed.

Magikarp- Behaves like Goldeen, but has a hidden HP meter that varies between 25 HP, 100, or 200. It can be attacked and whoever does the blow that takes away the last of its health just needs to sit back as it evolves into Gyarados and attacks other fighters.

Eggplant Wizard- Shoots 3 eggplants. If they make contact with another player, that player is transformed into an eggplant (with legs) for 10-15 seconds. While an eggplant, the character can only jump. No A, B, or grab attacks can be done.

In my opinion that seems a little over powered. At least with Shadow's Chaos Control or the stopwatch you could move albeit MUCH slower, but with something like this slow, powerful characters like Ganondorf or Bowser would really screw over everyone else. I think I could live with it if it was only 5 seconds though.

Make it five I suppose.

If not that then I'll just have her play a lullaby or something. That's if you can't figure out anything else

Besides, she might still have a chance at being playable

I don't think it's overpowered if the player is locked in place, i.e. they can rack up damage, but after the spell ends they just continue on with what they were doing, albeit with an increased damage meter.

That sounds fair. I'll change it back to 10 seconds and make sure to right that in. I had just assumed before that after the spell was over the knockback would be recieved like normal. Although you'll still manage to get a LOT of damage in with powerful characters.

That looks great! The balloon looks a bit undetailed and flat compared to the rest of the sprite, but that's my only real issue with it.

Well that's if they don't get in, though according to Teeks and his buzzkillyness, they won't.

But I've got a few tricks up m'sleeve...

He was frightening in the first place? Please be a bit more descriptive.

So basically revert him to SSB64 Snorlax? Sounds good since he's so much less powerful in SSBB. I don't remember how he was in SSBM though which is odd since I played Melee a lot for a few years after it came out.

Also, a bit off-topic, but I do find it funny though how every time I've gone back and played SSBM for a quick adventure mode or something that its so much better than SSBB in almost every way. Considering the last time I played SSBB was only about a month ago I can safely say that Nostalgia isn't clouding my judgement.
